Been commenting on almost every AoC update, asking for an epsiode where they give some love to the audio-engineering department. I completely agree that music and ambiance are aspects that are not talked about enough; zone music can, for me at least, completely make or break the feel/vibe I get from a zone. Following your example with WoW, I'm currently playing retail very casual but the one thing I noticed is that they've really hit a mark with this expansion's zone music ♥

100%, I've yet to play an MMO that even compares to classic wow for ambiance and setting that immersive feel like you're actually in that land. I'm currently playing guild wars 2 because I'm burnt out on wow and not a single zone gives that immersive feel of a place like STV, the barrens or even Ashenvale.

I liked how your shirt matched your character. It was like you were in the game! When it comes to classes, I feel like they really start feeling good at lvl 10-12. I felt this with fighter and i have heard others say this. I have heard multiple bards say it's one of the most fun classes they have ever played in an MMO. One thing to keep in mind is it's the last class they created and they have already said they will go back and revisit the earlier classes (cleric/tank/mage) so i'd keep an eye out for improvements.

Hey Esfand. The only MMO I have every truly loved was DAOC. I've heard you talk about it a few times and it makes me SOO damn happy to hear someone bring it up. I truly think RvR was my favorite multiplayer system of all time. AoC is a ways off but I'm hoping it could scratch a similar itch. I'm a daoc player myself and still play sometimes on the freeshard. Ashes NEEDS a PvP progression system. Right now pvp in ashes seems pointless. I'll try reach out to the devs through content creatures, to ask about a PvP skill points system. Because so far, I haven't had much luck on their Discord.

The spell book needs to be held by your side (or in inventory) until it is needed, and then it will pivot to the current front location. Also, the book needs to be reduced in overall size.

The game's art style looks incredible to me. It strikes a great balance between artistic flair and realism, which I find really cool. The sound effects are impressive as well; you can truly feel the impact when you cast judgment. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. The movement for some NPCs appears a bit rough, but I'm sure that will be improved. I'm very excited for this and can't wait to see more!

11:55 GW2 Solved that by going the horizontal progression route so all content is relevant thus fomo isn't bad as people are always doing old content cuz the rewards make it always worth doing. The main weakness to really getting into the game is due to the little vertical progression that is present, imo, as the difference between the leveling experience and the endgame experience is quite large. Because as you level before lvl 80 you'll unlock and have the entire core class available and then when you reach 80 you can unlock the specializations, which really expand upon your customization options for play and for many classes entirely evolves how a class functions. Another note where GW2 shares a light similarity with ff14, is where the weapons you wield heavily impact your playstyle since your 1-5 skills are tied to your weapon choice. Which is very different from WoW where you can just use whatever as long as it's two handed as a warrior/paladin, in a general sense.

I completely agree with everything you had to say about graphics qualities in games. I'll never forget being impressed by how good mario's round belly looked on the n64. And I'd say WoW graphics are some of the best ever made because the game looks good and you can alt+tab out easily

I made a paladin as well. I'm a cleric with heavy armor. Very tanky and easy heals and sustain with Bless Weapon. I am actually just using wand and it's very good, but also can use melee weapons.

I'm exited for the Tank/Cleric Paladin myself. It will likely be an insanely good solo class. Imagine the cleric augmented Reflect to heal you for 100% of damage blocked.

Those talents already look amazingly promising for pvp. Being able to instant cast while casting something else, rapid spam instant cast to burn charges (strategic), big openers for wombo combos, movement speed boosts on demand for repositioing/LOS. Tried PvP in Guild Wars 2 and ESO, neither of them nailed it properly, it was too spammy and chaotic and their interrupt/CC systems were wonky with lack of combat info. If they can make a good balanced PvP system that's really dynamic and allows for fun builds and counter play (think classic Frost mage vs Prep rogue) then I will 100% dump all my time into the game when it releases.

I think the questing is something they probably haven’t fleshed out much yet. But as a writer, it’s been really, really difficult to hold back critique on how simple and underbaked some of the quests and world events seem to be. Hopefully we’ll see improvements over time.

I dont think art style is that big if an issue. I think once AoC gets famous like WoW, when people will see a picture of video from AoC or some other game which has similar graphics, people will say oh this is from AoC. Many games now have art style like WoW but whenever there is something like that, people just call it WoW like art style. Its the fame that will make the art style noticable and stand out.
