I am super glad you leave your "fails" because that way we know that 1) video makers aren't always perfect and 2) we learn from them. Thank you for being vulnerable! Love your videos!!

Yes!! Id love to see you layer rainbow colors of clear colored resin bottom to top with some chunky glitter layed in each and black last layer so it mimics your amethyst. Witch craft fairs would be quaking!!

Just an FYI, to maybe save you a little silicone, and allow you to mold the bigger crystal, you could pour a thin layer (maybe 1/2") and let it cure. Then, pour more mold maker directly on top of the cured layer, and put your crystal in, pretty side down. That way, you don't have to submerge it entirely, can leave out some of the "ugly" part, and not run out of mold maker! In my experience, and that of Yvonne Williams (another poly clay/resin KZbinr), that mold maker bonds perfectly to itself, once cured, since you're not the only one that underestimates how much you have, we've also run out mid pour, and had to wait for the Amazon fairy to arrive!!

Put a little metal spare key box in the bottom while it is still wet and you can put it in your garden to hold your key. Speaking of legos, I use the with my 6 way plugs on either side of my bed. I have placed Velcro in a few medium sized bricks, then attached more bricks to the underside of the 6 way plugs (I used hot glue but have had to do touch up due to the heat. You could probably do super glue). Then just attach the legos on the 6 way to the legos on the nightstand. Works so good and convenient. I used to have it with just the Velcro and not the legos, but it did not hold well due to the weight, so I found a solution to that issue.

I love the clay idea, it would save so much sanding and filling! Funny story, when I started playing with polymer clay, I didn't have a lot of money or access to craft supplies, but I have two sons, 13 and 21! Wandering around the house, looking for ways to MacIver things like Tiny Pandora's "square pairs", and acrylic blocks, I swear, I stepped on a tiny piece of Lego (parents, you feel me). Putting the piece in the Lego tote, I discovered a whole new world of clay tools and resin molding. Not lying, when I say that Lego is an everyday part of my crafting!

This is my first time seeing your videos. They are so sweet, pure, and beautiful. It's amazing seeing someone take nature and turning it into unique things to keep permanently. Watching you pour resin over things and flowers, and creating crystals... It's like stopping a moment in time and dangling it there forever. :D

Super cool. Would you be able to create a silicone insert for the mold that would allow you to then use it as a night light? So you could pop one of those flameless tealights in the bottom?

When you do the multiple cup method to mix the resin - do you re-use the cups over and over again. If so how you clean any resin left in the cups out b4 reusing. Would love to see that process in one of the future videos.

if you ever run out of silicone, you can use scraps from past mold making or even cut up other silicone molds that didn't work out or that you don't use and you just plop em in on the side, they'll bond with your uncured silicone and fill up some space!

Hey hun, you seem to have some problems with working out how much silicone is enough to cover your objects, can I make a suggestion as a fellow crafter. take your item put in in your container then fill it with water to where you need it. Then tip the water in to a measuring jug what ever the water amount is is the amount of silicone you need to add. This will save you a lot of silicone, stress and money xx

Zjust found your channel, and I am so inspired to get started with resin! Can you explain why, when you were making all those attempts at molds, you had the crystals facing up, instead of facing the bottom of the container? It seems like it would have used less of the mold material if you didn't have to cover as much of the source rock (which was really thick on the original crystal you were going to mold).

Hi AMW, I don't know why this video doesn't have more likes. I love it. You are so cute, and pretty, and fun to watch. I'm a lot older than you, I'm 50, but I have learned so much from you already. Especially from your "Fails," which are in fact, not fails, but happy little accidents. If everything went perfectly, we'd have less to learn from, and learning is the key to perfection! Love this crystal. Was wondering, what if you didn't add any WHITE alcohol ink-- would it still be just as pretty? More translucent? Or do you add the white to add 'depth?' I have only made less than 10 tiny pendants, with only a sprinkling of glitter and a drop or so of translucent alcohol inks. I'm such a newbie, so I'm learning as I go. My 15 bottle set of inks did come with a black and a white, and the black is not very opaque at all. I think the white will be the same. It will take a lot of drops to get a very opaque look with the brand I bought. But it's ok--- the point it to have fun, right?! Please keep making your resin videos--- they, and you, are wonderful!
@merrilywillis3774 жыл бұрын
how do you know how much ink to add - it looks like you use a LOT but it seems to come out well. I am scared that the colours will all merge into a dark messy colour

@ArtsyMadwoman5 жыл бұрын
thank you!! So I don't think it would have a problem with rain but if you keep a resin piece in the sun, it'll get discolored. It'll kinda turn kind of a yellowy color, depending on if the resin you use is UV resistant or not. I'm sure it would survive normal weather but the sun would discolor it.

Your videos are fun to watch and you don't do the voice inflection at the end of every sentence. I've noticed in a lot of instructional videos people do that and frankly it is distracting. The natural speaking voice you have is great. Has anyone molded untreated wood? I have a wood coaster I want to make a mold from. It is not sealed so I'm not sure if I need to seal it or spray it with something before making the mold with it.

Great stuff - Wonderful Enthusiasm enjoy you!
