I made a Santa Platformer for a charismas Game Jam

What a journey it was to make this game. Two very long days and even longer nights, spent making a game that never stood a chance. but hey it was really fun none the less. and I can't wait to do it again!

Found your channel while looking for an Armory vs Range comparison. If Google is to believed, you might be the only person who's ever even made videos about both. Js, a video directly comparing the key features of some of the BGE successors in 2024 would be pretty cool

I have wanted to do a comparison video for a while about all the branches of bge. but I just haven't gotten around to it. mostly because It will be hard to judge each one. they all have strengths and weaknesses. for example range in a new player in the bge world, but it has already proved its self to be a very powerful game engine. but it is still new and has some issue that need work. another thing that would be great to see, would be the implementation of more advanced logic nodes like UPBGE 0.3+ or Armory3D. otherwise if you can code in Python, you can make some really cool stuff. Now Armory3D is really cool but it still has its own issues. User friendliness is a big one. armory has a much larger learning curve, at least in my experience. it also is more likely to crash or throw errors quite often. some being a real pain to fix. I will defiantly work on making a comparison video I just dont know when it will come out.

Nice that was great!!!I have yet to join a game jam been way to busy with my first game but trying really hard to get great optimization so far so good!!the only thing I'm still a little worried about is compatibility and if once I transfer it into unity or unreal if I will still have the visual fidelity and nothing will go hay wire after the transfer lol 😆😅😅other then that game is coming along great.this was a fun project you did i lile everything about it!!that stinks though that it didn't work properly after release.thats a big worry of mine for my game.😬😬😬

I think it could be "initializing" issues. As probably some variables or attributes would start in a disordered sequence. That problem can occur when all brick logic start at once instead of waiting for initializing then broadcasting the next triggering event etc

Interesting, thats a good point. I may have to add a timer to spawn entities and objects after the sceen loads. Then to hide the pop in a simple loading screen would do.

at least you can export the game. You should see the godot4 android export. 😂

finally u saw range engine, i have a question, does range engine have logic nodes or any nodes editor?

Not at the moment, its possible it will be implemented or a new form will be added. But currently it only uses the old bge logic nodes.
