Great video Derek. And yes, I'm watching it on Christmas day! I always do a flue integrity test first on a service. I had 1 fail massively a few months ago, checked outside and the customer had propped a massive trampoline up on its side against the back of the house totally covering the flue terminal! All the best mate.

I admit I shy away from serving Worcester boilers but this was great Video, Give me an Ideal to fix any day, The amount of Engineers that don’t do a sweep test after changing gaskets😮 even the manufactures own service engineers don’t do it sometimes, I always do it but sometimes a gust of wind blows the & I have to do another one especially on a logic, I’ve done sweep tests on brand new logics & had temporary high readings then ok only to find loose nuts on the burner head, I told ideal & they don’t seem concerned 😣🤔 Brilliant videos as usual 👍

i had this exact fault on a job a couple of years ago. the guy had smashed the end of the flue terminal off with a set of ladders. On another job, after a big storm I was called to a locking out boiler, the wind had blown over their washing line and the clothes were blocking the flue. Not a wasted journey there as those electrodes were gonna cause that boiler to stop soon anyway i reckon. happy christmas to you and yours.

Hi Derek -- yes iv'e had the same problem on worcester's flue plume kit joint connection coming apart too -- it's not a really secure connection to stert wih -- that air intake looks close to that adjacent wall -- it can't be much more than the 600mm required ! at lest you gave the bolier some love and effection --- take care + all the best -- Jim ...

I was told gas pressure should ever be on the min in spec because the householder might turn on their oven, and the street at teatime might cause it to drop, then drop their gas below min required for safe operation? For Eg, if 16.5 is min, then the reading should be above 16.6 or fit a bigger gas supply pipe or range the max heating load down in settings?

@@applanateearth586 correct but what if I tested for this or they only have the one gas appliance. I didn’t show all the tests I did.

That gas pipe hose always needs replacing if it's the coiled type for the smooth one. the older type was prone to splitting

To be fair the fan sounded like it had faulty bearings and would eventually cause an issue or fail altogether and with case on, the resistance in the fan will increase slightly. It does however prove the necessity of a good all over visual before starting work. All the best!

😂😂 it happens to everyone, even to the most experienced ones. Once I got a call from a client because her boiler had the same problem, and after a long struggle from me , she says , - I don't now if its important but last week some guys went up to the roof to do some repairs ... I went to find my ladder , climbed up , and voilà! I found the cause in less than 30 seconds 😅 Joyeux Noël from Lorraine, France 🎅🎅
