I think balance isn't so hard if you keep the bass in the middle. Keeping the total weight as low as possible, that's the real challenge. I think inspiration should be taken from the so called cocktail drumsets.

The Glassmen marched tenor cymbals in 1994. It was interesting. On a side note, That was also the year that Phantom used woodblock tenors for a bit. You can barely hear them in the recording,

At my school we have a song for our Pep band/basketball band that has a tenor part, but our band director doesnt want to break out the tenors. So our solution was to make a tenor out of cowbells. I would definitely want to see your approach to this as well as I think CowBenors are very nice sounding.

Tymbles, of course. Also I need you to make a tenor set with Hammerax Liquicy cymbals. But they are very hard to get. They once came in 14", 16", 19", 22" and 24". You know what else would be cool is if there was a hand pedal which would function same as a foot pedal, to open one of the hi hats.
