Strangely enough, conrod length would make a huge difference in rpm range with coffee can pistons. Longer rods (and higher block deck) would lessen the dynamic imbalance of the rotating assembly, allowing for construction of lighter material, assuming no forced induction or overly high compression ratio. That motor's profile is bested by the Ford Duratec 25, in SVT trim it makes more power at a lower RPM, and more torque everywhere. I'm kind of surprised you went with a 60-degree V, as 8 cyl are most balanced at 90.
@benfennell68422 жыл бұрын
If it makes more torque everywhere it also proportionally makes more power everywhere. Why do people complicate this stuff? Not a dig at you but just saying it's weird to phrase it as though torque and power are somehow seperate.

@filmgunproductions44482 жыл бұрын
To anyone who doesn't know, this is how F1 engines are, they have a sizeable bore with 1/4 the stroke length compared to regular cars, this (along with other components) is what gives these engines the ability to rev up to 20,000 rpm and still make power.

@@kj64gaming19 yes but Mclaren make a 4.0 V8 with 824bhh, Mercdes make a engine that has half the cylinders and is only 2L in size rather than 2.5 and it makes over twice as much power. Koeinigsegg make a 2L 3 cylinder with 600bhp. Just because Lexus can’t make power with big engines doesn’t mean that this tiny fictional V8 isn’t insanely underpowered compared to what’s out there
@kj64gaming192 жыл бұрын
@@lbnewell23 I think you're getting it wrong. All 3 engines you mentioned were turbocharged. This engine, along with my Lexus, is naturally aspirated. You can push over 1000HP out of even the smallest engines using superchargers and turbochargers. It's pretty hard to get a small V8 to put out more than 350 or so HP. Yeah there are really big V8s that make a lot of power like the 6.2L in the MB SLS AMG and the 5.5L in the new Corvette Z06, but an engine smaller than 4L is hard to cram lots of power into. Also keep in mind my Lexus is from the 90s. The Ford Mustang GT and Chevy Camaro SS from the time only had 225 and 275 HP, respectively. These engines were both larger than my Lexus's and produced similar power. I also find it ironic that you call a 4.0 V8 a "big engine." Oh and if you're gonna claim that Lexus can't make powerful engines, how does 472HP from a NA 5.0 V8 sound to you?
@lbnewell232 жыл бұрын
@@kj64gaming19 well as a European the majority of cars don’t have engines bigger than 4L so that is why I called it a big engine. And I obviously know that all those engines are turbocharged. The original comment was saying that the V8 in the video didn’t make much power. Well rectify it by turbocharging it. You’re reply was simply saying that 200bhp was good because your Lexus can make a bit more with a larger engine this is no justification when there are many modern na cars that have well over 400bhp and quite a few with over 500 with the same displacement as your Lexus which is why it holds no relevance, the video is about making a modern supercar, how does a 90’s Lexus’ engine mean the one in the video is good. And obviously again I know that you’re not in a modern car because no car manufacturers would be stupid enough it release such an underpowered V8 in todays market. And 472 from 5 litres is quite good. Not nearly the highest specific output of na engines but it’s not underpowered for its size. As I knew your car was not modern when I said Lexus can’t make power out of such a large engine I should’ve said Lexus and many other brands couldn’t get power out large engines because bmw could make 400 from 4.9 litres which is much more than the cars you mentioned so even if we’re looking at the same time period as the one you were talking about still 260 or whatever it was is not amazing.
