If anyone is wondering... I tucked the top of the hat down to make it look like a knot in an old tree. If I want to have the tall pointy look again, I can just pull it back out. Let me know if you liked this project and want to see more felting adventures. Wet felt looks really amazing with hand spun embellishments on it as well, FYI! Happy Halloween everyone, and happy spinning! 🦉🎃🍂🍄

This reminds me so much of the channel Alwyn Oak when she visits the forest as a fairy. It's just magical and enchanting. Your hat looks amazing and you have inspired me to give it a try, maybe for this halloween! The hat suits you to a T, we all should allow our inner child out and live as little folks of the forest :)

This hat is SO STINKIN' CUTE (and so are you!!). I looooove all the colors of the roving and how it layered together to create such a beautiful, almost marbled design. Also, I've never seen anyone felt a hat before and this process totally blew my mind - I'd love to give it a try someday! Thank you so much for the inspiration and for the holiday cheer 🎃

Totally get the fantasy of living in the forest in a toadstool house or something. I always (and in truth still do - at age 82!) wanted to be a fairy living in the forest. Love the hat. I have a green one I made that is similar but not such a long pointy crown. Too old to felt much anymore which I regret, but there it is. Love your method for making the decorations. Thanks for sharing this. Yes would like to see more felting projects. 😀

This added years to my life, and now I know a real forest gnome too!! Did you know that the Mongols felted wool under their saddles as they rode? I read a great thesis about it but I couldn't find it anywhere when I went back for it 😩 she thought that felting was the technological advantage that Genghis Khan needed to ride across the continent on horseback...

Oh wow. The thumbnail does not do justice the true height of this hat! I love the way you rolled it down to make it more manageable, but the full height is also amazing and gives off such a forest gnome vibe because gnome hats are so tall in relationship to their heads, so I really creates the perfect ratio!

That's so beautiful! Can you tell us approximately how much wool you used overall? Like was it 50g or 100g for the inside and outside? I want to try this, but want to make sure I start out with more than enough fibre.

The orange woo was about 6oz. The green was 3 oz and the white was probably another 2-3 oz. My hat came out pretty large and thick (how I wanted it) but it could be thinner or smaller too. 💖🧶
