@zephyrwestern30563 жыл бұрын
--0:55 Now we have the idea, let's look at what steps are needed to achieve the goal. The foremost thing is to make the bicycle go. Unlike a 4-wheeled car, a bicycle lacks a power source. Uncontrolled, it cannot stand up by itself, let alone getting it moving. Hence a complex control system will be needed. More on that later. Next, in order to take the rider (human) out of the picture, we need to supply a sensor network and a computer with enough computation power. This will be the "brain". Lastly, we need a sensory and control algorithm, this will be the "soul". -- 1:30 OK, let's look at step 1. Let the bicycle move.The bicycle I use is an old fixie (single-speed, brake by backpaddling) I bought earlier. Many foreigners like to use fixies for drifting, a danegeous endeavor. Fits perfectly with its Chinese name, death-fly (death: fixed, fly: the rear sprocket - which is ratchet typically). Did this contribute to the low population numbers of many of those countries?:)Back to business. We need to make some structure modifications to the bike. Similar to iron building robots, we use the computer to assist. Basically, building a model in a CAD tool. After messing with that, we got a virtual bike, or a digital twin. Essentially, draw up some wire frames, then add a few details here and there. All the modifications can now be done on the computer to get the final blueprint. In short, I added two humongous brushless motors, a servo for the handle bar. For sensors, I used a RGBD camera, an accelerometer, a gyro and a laser radar. The battery is type 6S for models. It’ll last 2 to 3 hours. The main control module is mounted behind the seat. For the drive train, the servo is obvious. But what do the brushless motors do? Let’s think about how a bike stands up when you ride it. Then how to achieve that when the bike is standing still. - 03:00 The answer is: angular momentum. From college physics, when one object in a system has a changing angular momentum, a torque will be applied on other objects. So, the motor in the center drives a metal flywheel. We’ll see its effect later. In fact, this is how satellites adjust its position in space where no friction exists. The rear motor is used to drive the rear wheel and the bike forward/backward. OK, the drawings are done. The next step is manufacturing the parts. Some of which can be 3D-printed. However, this time we are making something carry some level of power, the material for 3D-printing is not suitable for the core structure parts. These hardware for mounting motors, I used metal. I’ve got to thank my friend Xikii who likes designing and whose family owns a factory. All in all, after I used up an entire roll of 3D-print material and my friend worked at the lathe for a few days, I’ve got all the parts needed.
