Hello sewsrine, I love your videos you are talented! An inspiration. My love of costuming is in recreating my favorite movie costumes. I have an embroidery or applique question for you. In the finale of Meet Me in St. Louis the mother character( played by Mary Astor wears a dress heavily embroidered in a grape cluster motief. I figured out e grapes but can't figure out how the leaves are done and the grape vine. I would so live your opinion on how this dress was done. The movie takes plane in 1904. I am obsessed with this costume. Appreciate any opinions on this dress.

Thank you so much! I LOVE that gown so I had to look it up - apparently it’s all appliqué! Meaning it was probably lace or beads embroidered somewhere else, cut out and then sewn on. I linked the auction listing here: i0.wp.com/frockflicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/MeetMeinStLouis-1944-MrsSmith-lacegown2-display.jpg?ssl=1 Best of luck!!
