I remember Birch sponsored another video for you few years ago - in fact your promo was why I ordered a Birch mattress. it is heavy and misshapen, bit uncomfortable, but the frame is very neat. I would not purchase another Birch mattress. I would purchase the frame again. Congrats on your move and finding the perfect sewing room 😂

I do think the adage give anything that really needs to get done to a busy person is so true. You work a demanding job fulltime - have a hubby and little one along with puppers - move a ridiculous amount of time (moving is third for stress under losing a loved one and divorce - so moving six times in a short time would be very wearing on your body and mental state) and there you are getting through projects and thinking about murals. It's nothing short of amazing. I think your sewing spaces are lovely and efficient and very you 😊

I have a small, narrow open floor plan house - kitchen, living room and a dining room table sized table all in the same space. We don't eat at the table anymore with just one and sometimes 2 in the house. I turned the table into my main crafting space. It's got a large flat surface, the entertainment accessories, food and is on the same floor as a bathroom. It's my house, why not make it work best for me.

I love the idea of putting your passions and interests front and center in your home! I think we all get set into the idea that we have to have rooms that are what they are "meant for," like everyone who has a formal dining room that only uses it for holidays (great if that's your thing, but if not....use it for whatever you want!), or a spare bedroom that has a bed, even if you're not the type to have guests stay over. Your style is always terrific, and I hope you're able to stay in this space as long as you'd like, after all the moving.

My living room is way less elegant but the first thing people see when they walk in is our living room with a folding table as our coffee table and a giant wall of board games. We also do a lot of miniature painting on the table for those games. Our place is a 3 bed 2 bath condo so when we had parties we were always switching our coffee table with the folding table, after one party we just said w.e. it lives here now. It's just too convenientXD We'll upgrade eventually but for now it's cheap and extremely functional. Normalize interior design that makes sense for your home, not someone else's aesthetic!

I think there are some coffee tables that convert into a dinning room table. They are cool but a bit expensive. I wonder if I will feel like I need one, but right now I have a dinning room table in my living room with three computers on it and a dinning room table in my dinning room for playing board games. My main living space is all about everyone living in the house playing board games or video games. I use to image throwing board game parties and needing two tables, but it hasn't happened yet and may never.

I'm in the middle of reorganizing fabric and making our formal dining room my sewing room and maybe my office as well. I've decided to move our dining table to our living room. The living room is huge and just feels like a giant multi door corridor. I own a lot of art work and I also paint in large scale so this space is perfect for a gallery space + dining room (and fireplace with club chairs). Our "living room" is the den area towards the back of the house - good enough. I think it's always wise to make use of any space to how it suits you regardless of the original intent. All of this and we're planning on moving next year. Gotta enjoy your space and refine your process though : )

4 years ago I finally decided to give myself my dream sewing space...even though it would basically make my "entertaining guests" space disappear. . . And honestly, it was the best decision ever. My friends and family totally understood how happy using the space for sewing made me and they don't need me to entertain them (something I worried they wanted). Fully embracing being myself and making sewing easier by making it accessible really improved my life. I am glad embracing your families hobbies has also made yall happy as well

Beautiful new space. Love how you're all able to play together while working on different things. For your costume storage might I suggest archival textile boxes? They come in long and narrow sizes and you could store the dresses and accessories with minimal folds. Pad out the folds with acid free tissue and that will help even more. They come in various sizes so you could buy ones that fit 2 to a shelf like you have the bins.

I vote for a whole new painting. New space. New to you wall painting? That space is gorgeous. And I send up my prayers to the Algorithmic Gods, both the Old and the AI, that you never have to move again. With any amount of luck this is your age in place home. My only suggestion would be to add a comfy chair to a corner with an appropriate light and footstool. It can pull double duty at story time. Somehow I don't think you have the time for a kitchen garden but, just to put a bug in your ear, there are apparently a growing number of cities that have landscapers who specialize in setting up and maintaining your very own Victory Patch. I type as a balcony veg patch gardener for the past 20 or so years. There's something about stepping outside and picking dinner... Anyways, just a suggestion. You've gone leaps and bounds already getting the sewing studio set-up... enjoy the process of settling into your home. Cheers. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

You’re so inspiring! How do you have the energy to continue working 55hrs/week and continue working on multiple projects at a time and even FILM THEM while still spending time with your family? Personally I live alone and work 40-45 hours and spend 5-10 hours on the weekends doing community responsibilities, and when I have free time I feel so completely worn out that I struggle even getting out of bed, I don’t have any spoons left to actually do the things that bring me joy, like sewing or seeing friends. How do you do it all? Is it just that all of the things you do you love so they give you energy rather than drain it?

There is a place north of the city that my mother used to take us to call Vogue Fabric. Please check it out. They moved into a wear house and have a great selection of fabrics. Their trims and buttons is half of what is was in the old space. But still some impressive inventory. I bought several quilt backings and I was able to fit them in my luggage coming back to Texas. If I make a bigger purchase I just mail it to Texas. I won’t tell you how many packages I have mailed to my self cause I love garage sale also. Your new space is dreamy. Thanks for the tour.

Whether they can be walk out or in ground in St. Louis depends on ground topography and I have been told that is also why many cities rarely have our basements. I like the bit on your lace embroidery. I was wondering if you have tried to replicate the Honiton (sp?) lace loved by Queen Victoria?
