I Made Blitzball from Final Fantasy X in Unreal Engine 5

My second play through of Final Fantasy 10 was just for blitzball. If you continuously play the tournaments, they do end. Then you start over again with all your stats against lower level teams. I had a wish that square enix would come out with a stand-alone blitzball game.

@@AtticusBeRockin The benefits of being young with lots of free time... Let's just say, "awhile." Also that PS2 and memory card are long dead and gone. Got the jecht shot, won the story tournament game, then sat at a save point before the next Temple and just played. Kept the whole original team too. Then X-2 ruined it.

Personal headcanon for the Hypellos not having a blitzball team: O'Aka and his brother have been building up the gil to sponsor a blitzball team called the Djose Shoopufs. But the Yevon Blitzball League franchise organization is just as burecratic as the rest of the organization, so it has been on the table since the last calm.

Hypellos are too lazy for Blitzball. One of them in Luca says he got recruited to a team but he backed out because he didn't want to "practish ebberhyday" or something close to that.

I got this game and a PS2 on Christmas on my 14th Birthday. However, I didn't get a memory card. And since it was Christmas, and nowhere was open to get one, I stopped after Luca because I was afraid of dying and losing all my progress...Played Bliztball for about 5-6 hours, and left my PS2 on all night. I did read the Blitzball tutorial and understood everything perfectly without any problem. It was probably the clearest and most helpful tutorial in any game I've ever experienced to date. I understood how to play my first game, and even scored a point against the Luca Goers! (Didn't have Jecht Shot). I did end up losing anyway, but I had a good time. Fond memories of Blitzball. Probably my favorite minigame in any FF. I did a power leveling file where I did Blitzball for about 50 hours and farmed Return/Teleport Spheres directly after Luca. Can do some amazing things, including changing "classes", or getting aga spells early. ANYWAY, I really like the spin that was taken on the rules! It looks fantastic. Definitely a blast to the past. Would play this version too!

I genuinely loved Blitzball. It was a struggle at the start but once you start winning it gets easier and easier. I ended up picking up a tonne of valuables without even realizing as I completed everything and then some. Trust me, it’s a matter of when not if you win. You will only get better made better whilst the enemies stay the same.

This is amazing! It still needs a lot of work to really make it stand up to a modern iteration of the title. But for one person, on their own... this is an incredible base to build the most breathtaking Blitzball game from. Seriously, Square needs to remake the game and hire this dude to lead the process.

It amazes me that all these years later and people still love Blitzball so much they do stuff like this. I've seen lots of videos posted by users either playing it in the original game or remaking it in some format. Funny that Yoshi P, producer of FFXIV, has stated clearly he won't make an adaptation of it in his MMO. There's so much potential with it. It'd be nice just to have a separate game officialy made by them that was a spinoff. I'd pay for that.

Then use Triangle, Square, Circle and X for different shots or passes. Venom pass, Venom Shot, Sphere shot, etc. Then we have a full game to be released as a demo :)

Machen, the old man scholar, has stated that Hypellos would excel at Blitzball. However, in the same sentence, he also said that they dont really care much for physical competitions. Had there been a Hypello team as well as free agent Hypello players though, I've always imagined their stats would be very similar to Guados. Fast swimmers, but lacking the endurance to survive a tackle. However, just to make them more different as well as balanced, I would also make it so that their Attack stat, even for Defenders, are plain dumpster level. They'll also have severely low HP as well. And unless they're close to a teammate, many of their passes probably wont make it through. The Trade off being that they're even more faster then Guados, and boast a great Blocking and Catching stat.

It has astounded me for years, since the advent of smart phones and the appeal of the app store....that stand-alone games like Blitzball or any of the card games from the series was never created. When I played X back in the day, I recall being so enthralled with this minigame that I poured tons of hours into it. I believe I had something like a 300/4 W/L rating (my kids showed interest in the remaster a year or two ago and spoiler --- I'm no longer remotely that good at Blitzball).

Didnt understand blitzball on the original release. I was only 13 anyway and had no idea what i was doing so i hated it. Played it on the PS4 remaster and it became my favorite minigame

I never thought about the Ride ze Shoopuf guy and why they didn't play Blitzball. I spent 20 hours alone playing that damn game, but after about 15 hours, every team you play against has all the abilities - so the Jecht Shot isn't unique.

Looking into water from above light distorts with the rippling effect but once you are underwater that distortion doesn't really happen...at least from what i remember. Idk it's been a long time since I've been under water. lol

Wow I stumbled upon your Chrono Trigger remake last week as I am creating a 3D redesign of some of the characters including an unreal engine recreation. To this day I do not know what the allure for blizball is, I freaking love it. But what is it about this mini game that has stuck with many of us until this day? Was it because it looked cool in the cutscenes? Or maybe how realistically cool it would be to play this? I don't know. But if blitzball was ever sport, then I hope to be alive to see a jet shot 😂
