9 Remake is in the works and should arrive sometime next year. Afaik SQ said, that 6 or 8 werent successfull enough to deserve a remake. So after 9 Remake, 13 seems very plausible

To be fair, only XIII and XV are the mainline Final Fantasy games outside the MMOs that haven’t been remastered or remade in any form. Also in terms of the Fabula Nova Crystallis, XIII's story was completed. Type-0 and if you want to count XV aren't completed.

@@RPGStory Yeah, I encourage everyone to do so. If you don't have a hard time reading subtitles and focusing on the scenes at the same time, you'll probably find the narratives much more immersive. In my experience, Japanese voice acting almost always brings out more emotions through the characters in any Japanese media. Voice acting is a very serious job in Japan, and they need years of studies and first-hand experience in differing fields of work behind them before getting assigned a bigger role. It's no wonder they're capable of delivering so many iconic lines!

Honestly, ff8 would be one of the better ones to remake as it is very flawed, especially the draw commands, while having a good story along with a great cast, leaving much room for change and improvements.IMHO

I’d appreciate a Crisis Core type remaster that adds in some quality of life improvements like being able to save Paradigm set-ups for when you change your party, a chapter replay option upon finishing the story and the choice to skip up to when the group first find themselves l’cie in replays like a NG+ thing. A glossary feature like FFXVI, where pausing has nodes that can be expanded to give some explanation for what something in the conversation means, would help to mitigate complaints about the world building not being too well incorporated into the main story.

I’m really trying to understand this mindset with remake rumors. When there’s a rumor about a remake, there’s always this comment. Saying one prefers a smaller scale/less ambitious remaster/texture swap kind of thing. Why? I mean it’s not like you’re the one working on the game. Why not demand the absolute most out of it? Why stop with a simple remaster if there could be more on the table? I’m genuinely trying to understand this mindset and to see if there’s more to it than OG fan posturing and fearing change. The game is going to be remade at some point. While yes they could remaster it, I think XIII had some pretty amazing cinematic scenes that would be done a great justice if remade/rebuilt for current gen. It would be one of best triple A visually appealing titles

It would be the best FF if it had the same battle system but with the improvements from 13-2. An expert crystarium, air ship that lets you return to chapters 1-10 which all have post game areas with optional content and quests that open up, towns with npcs along the way and the ability to switch between party members during battle. Also more emphasis on the villains like Jill, Roshe and Cid.

OK, everybody’s making a video about this because SE finally replied to a comment about This game needing a remaster and they said something along the lines of “why not a remake?” It blows my mind that they went that hard on it reply..😂 The only reason I would object to a full remake is if the voice actors for the English dub had to be changed, but they could make it more updated like between characters and fun stuff like that I’d be game for it-but the HD remaster for FFX was pretty bad so maybe a remake would look better as the very least ❤

The visual design and audio design of this game are simply masterpieces! I really like this visual - a mixture of the Star Wars world with Japanese stuff) You can already play the remasters if you install mods from the Nexus for these games. I would like to see remakes with a completely redesigned game world. Make it more open and interactive. Make more exploration of the world and interesting hand-made side quests to further reveal the characters and world. Reading the in-game encyclopedia to understand the game universe is sooooo booooring! I would like to learn this directly through the gameplay! The game world has a lot of potential)

I just replayed the first two, besides the first one being quite flawed but still enjoyable for the story I think they still hold up decently and find it unnecisary. Rather do 6, 8, 9 or 10 imho. Although they should hold off for 6 so the they can eventually do it with some future tech that will make it possible to make it fully remastered in 1 part, but that seems impossible.

Remaking FF9 or FF6 is the best choice. FFXIII despite of being 15yo the graphics is not that old, and they spent so many years for that game. Instead, why not giving the old FF a chance to be modernize. Many fans doesn't bother for FFXIII to have a remake. Personally, I wish they remake FFT, or non-FF like Vagrant Story instead.

As biggest fan of Final Fantasy XIII. I very happy they bringing back Final Fantasy XIII Saga love. But i think it's better if they make remaster. Honeslty id love a remaster like the ffX treatment, just give it a graphical boost with the quality of life updates it needs like character switching and not getting game over on character death. Dont change the battle system at all, the paradigm shift is the best part of the game and it would be ruined with a real time combat like new games.

Remake is a bit strong, i mean Chrono Trigger, 6,8,9 and 19 (and why not 4) are more pressing concerns i think. a Remaster would be perfect, the Steam release of 13-2 and lightning returns is a mess, i would buy a PC version of the Trilogy on day one!

Nobody asked or wants a ff 13 remake. 4, 6, 8 and 9 are only ones that actually need it although you can argue for a tv series or anime style adaptation assuming you can do it justice. What fans really want is remake / remasters of the games that made Square the powerhouse it was in the 90s such as Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Chrono Trigger, etc.

It would be wasted. The story is bunk-- the characters weak and not memorable beyond surface level and there are too many other better suited options well ahead of FF13 to potentially consider and throw manpower from a business perspective. FF13 was a game that already got 3 games to its name, which meant it had 2 additional attempts to rework and fix all its mistakes every time they put forth a game. In many ways, FF13 was the nail in the coffin game that put Final Fantasy in the backseat and marks a downfall for the entire franchise. To focus on it would be a mistake. To be honest, the people who are true fans of FF13 are contrarians and people who are more or less antithetical to Final Fantasy as a whole by all metrics and accounts.

Yeah I'm under no illusion that XIII is deeply flawed. If they remake it it would need a complete rework which itself would make it an entire new game anyway.

It got three games precisely because it was so popular. Remember; Square Enix is originally a Japanese studio, and most of their games do much better in Japan due to the lack of American-type mindsets and the better cultural affinity there.

Incredible? Final Fantasy 13 was incredibly TERRIBLE!! The second game's only good part was the casino side quest area. I thought I would never despise a Final Fantasy game besides Final Fantasy 2 and Dirge of Cerberus so much. Square better square things up and not re-release this game if it remains a total flea bag like the original, but then again, Lightning sometimes does strike the same place twice.

I do not think the ffxiii deserve a remake at all. FFVIII should be given a chance. Remember that the ff7 was one of the best game of all time back in the days and ff8 and 9 also pushed the limit of our gaming standards. Yes, the junction system was definitely not very popular but it's because it was a very difficult system to set and not everyone was capable of grasping the system easily. I believe the IP deserve a chance with a redesigned junction system.

The story does make sense if you pay attention. I played this game for the first time when I was 16 and was STILL able to comprehend it. As for the hallway complaint, I’ve never gotten this. Should the game be a bland, lifeless open world game with nothing but empty space and running errands for NPC’s? Would that be better? They did that with XV and it sucked.
