Getting past that mental block "I'm not capable of that" or "I can't make that" is something ive been forcing myself into in the past few years. My main craft is crochet; I have been doing that since I was about 7. But until two years ago, I have been a beginner crocheted, never pushing past what I already knew and assuming that I was incapable of anything outside of that. What is with that mindset? Anyways, ive recently gotten into miniatures thanks to a lighting bolt of inspiration while I was in hobby lobby. I walked past the decorative lanterns, and one of them seemed to scream out "look at me! You could build a tiny gnome library inside here!" I bought that lantern (half price, too!) And now ive spent every waking moment learning about scale, and then balsa wood and gathering as much free material as I can and buying way too much and learning how to felt and use an exacto knife...so many skills I never thought I'd ever have I suddenly have now, and I'm so happy with the tiny things I have made so far. My idea has morphed and grown out of that inspiration lantern now a few months later and into a built in shelving unit in my house and I just can't wait to see what I'm capable of! Patience is key, but also your mind set. 😊

@@beccacoleman498 that’s so inspirational! Thanks for sharing your journey. Honestly that’s super cool! Lanterns are a magnificent housing unit for mini stuff. Recently I made a lantern project as well recently! It’s a previous video. ! I started stained glass several years ago, so that’s how I found lantern crafting. Now that I’m doing this mini stuff, it’s very exciting seeing where things go.

Well done. I really enjoyed your explanation of the process, and the final results. I do find that the second level books shelf bothers me. This has nothing to do with aesthetics, and everything to do with having had to deal with things being stored in questionable locations with dubious access. Remember, we have safety regulations because someone did the dumb thing in the first place.
@CraftandQuest2 ай бұрын
@@ChristopherDunkle haha 😆 good points. And thank you for the kind words. The biggest oversight in the project was not decreasing the size of that back shelf and not adding an additional railing. Live and learn!
@ChristopherDunkle2 ай бұрын
@@CraftandQuest The oversized shelf, and lack of railing adds to the impression of it being an old, almost forgotten, overcrowded archive. You can almost picture, at some point in the distant past, some junior scribe informing the head archivist that they need another shelf for storage on that level, and the head archivist offhandedly pointing to a nearby set of old shelves that he wants to replace with newer shelves and saying "I think that will fit. Take that and put it down there." I mean it does fit, mostly, and it can be used for storage. The stuff you are going to be putting on there probably won't be needed that often anyway. So, you know, it will do. And you don't want to seem ungrateful for actually getting shelves. So could you have done things a bit differently to make things fit more neatly in the space you had. Yes. Does the way you made it reflect the way things have sometimes been done in the real world. Also yes.

I'm genuinely curious if other people that watch craft videos actually care about the maker of the video. Like it's all him for the first minute or so and I always skip skip skip those parts. It just seems like every crafter has to put themselves out there when we're here for the craft and don't really care about the person
