I think that the definitive edition was made for GTA 3, but then T2 came and forced groove streets games to make remasters for other parts of 3D GTA as well.

The art direction for the vanilla GTA3 was no art direction. Its style was reminiscent of siphon filter at night, and bland during the day. The lighting engine and upped geometry adds lots of great moments to buildings

@@The1Music2MyEars the old games were definetly rough in their looks but they did have their own atmosphere, for all its shortcomings original GTA 3 had a cool cold and oppressive vibe, it was basically a more rudimental version of GTA 4 and it sold the shitty crime ridden urban setting pretty well despite looking half ps1 half ps2, definitive edition just murders all of that with bright sunny summer lighting and warm saturated colors, and while the lighting looks pretty damn good that's all it has going for it, and sometimes even that looks like shit, especially during cutscenes that are really poorly lit to the point you can't properly see characters at times, and the character models look like absolute dogshit, they look like they just subdivided the polygons of the old 3d models and carelessly put sloppy AI upscaled textures and materials on them, the only models that are somewhat of an actual improvement are the gta 3 peds and that's only because they did the bare minimum by making them not blocky and up texture variety, but that's it, every important character in all 3 games and the other pedestrians in vice city and san andreas look like complete dogshit compared to the originals, there's no excuse to add disgusting individual fingers to models only to basically never actually animate them when fans fucking modded that shit into gta 3 and vice city.

GTA 3 definitive edition won by a long shot. GTA 3 unlike SA, didn't receive that much support when it comes to Graphics mods, or any mod actually. So that's why GTA 3 and VC definitive edition I think are worth it, GTA Sa on the other hand not so much.

Not just that but SA goes for a more realistic look and feel and they made massive gameplay and engine improvements. 3 and VC are very limited in what can be done I think. Something I think that would help would be putting GTA 3 into SAs engine and use that as a base or a proper version done right in unreal and not the rushed mess we got with no care for the OG look and feel.

I think I agree with several comments, GTA III and VC are a new bet graphically they even look very beautiful in the definitive edition. Although there are several points that can be totally annoying or even feel old-fashioned at this date. 1.- They could have copied the same physics from GTA SA like running climbing even swimming. 2.- A little more ambient sound and wildlife sounds the little that could have been added. 3.- AI improvements and a little preset customization.

Amazing how people can see videos like this and still try to cope knowing they spent $59.99 on an over glorified GTA Sims Edition with plastic-esque textures. Even despite it being built on the mobile ports... Just Gesha went out and shared a modpack that added Helicopters, Flyable Dodos, Interiors, HQ car models, Cover, Burstable Tires, Breakable Winshields, Bailing Out, and plenty quality of life improvements. And to top that all off, it was bug free. Sure, certain graphical aspects of the DE look nice, but that's expected when its running on Unreal Engine 4. The mere fact that mods made years ago can go toe to toe with a game proudly released by a AAA game studio a year ago is absolutely embarrassing.

The Dodo could be flown for ages it’s all in the technique. Just need to let it bank up automatically and gently push the nose down so it doesn’t bank too far up or it will stall. I actually put it in my garage and use it for a mission where you need to take that corrupt cop to the airport. I can get it to take off even in the city.
