The orientation of that tacho gauge is bothering the hell out of me. Sometimes people orientate them so the needle points straight up at peak power rpm. But he orientation of that one makes no sense at all 😑

When you're looking straight ahead and can't see the needle, you're probably fine. Once the needle hits your peripheral vision, it's getting to be too high. The car may not have a shift indicator, so that may be it. There was an old feature in a 90's Indy 500 where they talked about Mario's oil pressure/temp gauge in a similar fashion; they didn't need to care until they could see the needle in peripheral vision.

I have noticed in a ton of old race cars the tach is oriented like that as well, notably in some old Porsche LeMans cars in AC I drove I believe, I don't know the reasoning

well, the ferrary touch-not really I think is aerodinamic disturbance. The air between the cars got squeezed too much and the one with less grip gets the effect of a nudge. Although I don't know if iRacing is that precise.
