This is why I carry my Kleins and the Knipex strippers. Hard to beat a proper twist and cut with regular linemans

I use the full-size Crocs. I like the sheath stripper on them. The Jr. doesn't have that feature.

Ideal vs wago. When connecting multi strand you struggle to push in so i allwys use wago to ensure all strands go in correctly.

great vid, bought the twin grips via your link.

Thanks! They are really useful for many reasons

Nice mod on the knipex, and definitely love the 12 62 180's. I shot my knipex up with some houdini lubricant 1 time, and that squeak has been gone for a couple of years now. Still can't put down my Klein Hybrid pliers though. Lots of good options 👍

I have to get some of that Houdini stuff!

Couldn't help but notice that you pre-twisted all your splices with your fingers instead of the tool. Is that how you normally do it?
@toolsandtactics2 күн бұрын
Yeah actually. I start alot of connections with my fingers. Only in construction though. Never in a scenaro where there has ever been power on before. Its way Faster and is easier to quickly position them

Thought maybe you'd found a way to make them work better with THHN but nope. Just some completely pointless nonsense with a grinder.

that guy that has to over twist everything and make it unserviceable in the future because he can't make crappy wirenuts work...
@miaknecht2 күн бұрын
LOL just heard the guy say you can't solder joints. NEC specifically says you can solder, but not on ground connections ...
@toolsandtactics2 күн бұрын
Sure.. Obviously that was just to show you the grip on the knipex and the twist strength You don't even necessarily have to pre twist. But yeah everything was obviously exaggerated on this video to show you their grip strength

Wrong, those wire nuts are designed to have the spring strip out and spin freely inside the insulator. According to the manufacturer it’s to protect from too much strain being put on the conductors due to over torquing. 2nd wrong is the “live spring” as you call it, the spring is so these modern wire nuts can be used on a wide variety of conductor sizes by the spring expanding to fit more conductors or larger ones if need be. Not tryna hate man but you sound like the type of guy who lives to work vrs working to live. Maybe i’m wrong but just letting know how you come across brother.

Thx for the facts here i was told along time ago about the spring and movement. But it seems that was wrong Thx for the perspective The wirenut did fail here it never slipped / broke off. It just never grabbed. Most bcaps won't grab with a bad twist Do you prefer pre twist of just go straight wirenutting. Am about to start a pole. Thanks again.

Only got about four minutes into your video and had to stop watching it, that voice over thing you got going on at the same time as the original video is speaking makes it almost impossible to focus.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure to check it out and make changes for future videos.

Also, this one's a new camera.So the mic setup is a little bit different. I was forced to drive the gain at which increased background noise a little bit

It exhausts me every time I have to watch this pre-twisting nonsense, Robert. I have been in the Trade for 29 years, almost 30. I was never taught pre-twisting in my area as an apprentice because we always used the proper twisting wire-nuts. I have always used Ideal Twister Wirenuts and they make a nice tight connection. If you are doing a Commercial project with several hundred boxes, pre-twisting wastes an incredible amount of time. They come in most sizes. I do agree that Wirenuts make a much better connection than Wagos.
@toolsandtactics2 күн бұрын
My first few jobs were commercial. What was evident because The Wire nut twisted The Wire on, when you untwisted The Wire nut All the joints broke loose if you were trying to add another wire But if they're a pre twisted everything seemed to stay more together. I have always pretwisted
@toolsandtactics2 күн бұрын
As you mentioned you used the good wirenuts. We used bcap.
@russrockino-rr08642 күн бұрын
@@toolsandtactics You are only adding wires after the fact on a remodel. If you are adding on to stranded wires, you should be re-doing the connection anyway. Pre-twisting is a waste of time here and will eventually get you fired. To each his own.Lol

@@russrockino-rr0864I also pre twist but never with 2 wires. That’s just silly business. If I need to add a wire while energized I just tighten the wirenut even further and then untwist the wirenut. Works every single time the joint does NOT come apart. I mean you can arguably make up joints just using a wirenut and then take it back off - boom look like you did it with linesman’s. I also don’t twist wires like he does, he squeezes too hard. It’s a light squeeze as you roll the wires around each other and you almost pull the linesman’s as you twist. Im curious how much work he does. I’m an awfully durable human being and the pain I feel from tightening and squeezing how he does is excruciating. Maybe I’m just a big pssy and he’s fkn superman
