"Becca's death felt very unnecessary." That one made me chuckle a bit. It's a rough one. I think it's a very important detail to have happened and it carries a lot of emotional weight, but it obviously feels bad. Did its job though, really sealed the deal on Adam Smasher's credibility and ruthlessness with a character that was universally loved.

that’s kinda the whole point of cyberpunk really, people will die or get hurt for pointless reasons, and you’ll have to learn to survive it or get cut yourself. It’s really fascinating seeing how characters deal with such a brutal city.

This show does something really interesting, that I really didn't think about until they talked about rebecca. In Cyberpunk no life is truly sacred. Anyone can die. Rebecca's death is 100% the nail in the coffin, not even a fan favorite like her is safe. I like that. Just like how in (Spoilers) V will almost always die, even if they don't they've basically lost everything already, they've already died.
@beige_projection4 ай бұрын
I hope your girlfriend plays Cyberpunk 2077. I do agree that the ending would be better if Becca had lived. Tolkien said that when it comes to fantasy, there should be an escape, and while a not fully happy ending is good too (I think LOTR's ending was very bittersweet), some parts that have a happy end would make a great fantasy. But yeah the writing style for the world of Cyberpunk is very doom and gloom almost. It's not much of an escape from reality. A precautionary tale, and people also love precautionary tales, even though we also love ignoring their warnings.

@Banana-cc5rx4 ай бұрын
@@GodOfAI_ he's saying going mainstream tends to kill products. The more "average" people the company needs to pander to, the more restrictions are on their creativity. That's what happens to alot of modern games and established companies like Blizzard and none of them make good products anymore. It feels more like they are making advertisements to push a message instead. "Oh you can't do this! it is rude!", "Oh no this is going to make some people angry! Remove it!" etc. Entertainments should always be fans-first, make good products by being creative, that's art.

@@almostfaceman The whole concept of edgerunners likely only came after the game was released. Idk man, animes are actually mostly created to promote their original sources like mangas and novels unless they are originally created. The game gained alot of returning and new fans. It was a huge success overall that brought life back to the game, without it 2077 wouldn't be as popular as it is now tbh. Most people see it as a "prequel" series except it's not as a game format. Could CDPR made it an expansion? Probably. But at that point of time they were busy fixing the game so Edgerunners can start promoting the game again and Phantom Liberty. based on steam charts playercount : September 2022 average players : 43,297.1 gain :+32,885.8 gain % : +315.87% peak : 136,724

GF got it right it right at the end of episode one, that Cyberpunk, the genre, is cautionary, not aspirational. That's why most of the endings of media in the genre are lukewarm and bittersweet at best. If you don't feel at least a little bit of a hollow pit inside at the ending then I'm not even sure it can be called Cyberpunk! And the Japanese VA for Lucy is always great in everything she does, Aoi Yuki is her name. Most recently she knocked it out of the park as the lead, Maomao, in the very well received, excellent anime, "The Apothecary Diaries."
