I use to love to want to have these dolls when I was kid that I would see at Target. but I was shocked at how ridiculously expensive they were, it wasn't until my mom told me that these were collective dolls and not meant to be played with. so I disregard them.

She's so pretty!! I love the purple, silver, and holo palette, they go so well together. The beading is lovely. The shape of her skirt is cool, I like how it doesn't cover one leg while the ribbon partly covers it and gives balance. And her face is beautiful, I like the purple lipstick. I'm sorry this year has been so hard for you. I appreciate you sharing your art and your experiences about being an autistic artist. I realised I'm autistic earlier this year, and I'm learning ways to work with it and be easier on myself. Your story about dealing with burnout for years made me realise that I experienced burnout during college, which on top of my other health issues, made college extremely hard. It's taken a long time to recover. I'm doing a bit better and am doing more art, and your customs are an inspiration for character design. Thank you again, Steph.

Beautiful job. She looks like one of the Crystal Fantasy or Gemstone Fantas Collection dolls. I think the last one that came out had a similar hair style. But yours has more detail and quality. And of course yours has a made to move body to pose and play with so in my view she’s infinity better.

She gives Bob Mackie x Barbie holiday vibes!! I get a little 90s early 2000s the color scheme reminds me of the moon doll and the hairstyle reminds me of another Mackie doll that was blonde with a black velvet dress with the same braid! I had the holiday barbies from 1999 2000 2001 2002 and I'd rather look up the 90s ones online than buy a newer one because I remember how beautiful the dresses were.

I'm thoroughly impressed with your sewing on this, the hand beading in particular feels a lot less intimidating seeing you do it (bless your patience for that), may have to consider that in the future for one of my own projects. Y'know, there was exactly one holiday Barbie I wanted, and I couldn't remember which year she was from, but I finally found her! Turns out she's the one from 2019 with the candy cane dress, and I got my hands on her this summer by a stroke of luck while thrift shopping with my grandma. Pristine condition, still had her shoes! I adore her. She's been on my bedside table all season, while my other thrift find, the Angel of Joy Barbie, has been with my larger doll display. I'm really drawn to candy canes as a palette, they're so pretty.

We don't like Millie because Millie represents Barbie's commitment to being average. The clothing quality has gone down to really ugly ill-fitting t-shirt dresses with printed patterns that don't go all the way around and mismatched accessories without any real thought or cohesion to the theming. We want glamorous Barbies with effort from concept to production. That said - I love when people make OOAK Millies that make her glamorous because she can be a cute sculpt if people who care are working on her.

You're not wrong! I saw another custom Millie recently that was stunning! Tbh I don't mind more average/less glamourous screenings so much as it's more what I tend to do myself. And there are a load of really cute sculpts! I just wish all the dolls were made to move, tbh (and that they all had bigger feet, lol). But I'm a customiser and not a collector so my priorities are a little different. 😅

Yeah. I think honestly that's always going to be the fate of whichever sculpt ends up as the default "Barbie" face. And I think it's just more obvious now because there are a lot more unique sculpts.
