@@elvisvasquez97 Hmmm, the RTX 4070 Twin Edge from Zotac could potentially fit, you're right. I wasn't aware of Zotac making much a small 4070. I own and have used the RTX 3060 Ti Twin Edge OC in OptiFlex. Although, it's right up against the front intake Noctua slim 80mm fans. Removing the fan in its way or modifying the fan a little may allow a 4070 to fit. The only thing I would be concerned with is the GPU thermals. I had a very hard time trying to control the 3060Ti Twin Edge OC's temperature. It would hover between 87-89°C. I have a feel the 4070 may do the same.

Hi, I was one of the first to mod the A4000 in my Neon Rocket build. I noticed you attached that 8-pin, and that is VERY interesting. it got me thinking ... We know the A4000 is cut down 3070 Ti, right? It's got the guts, but it's power limited. Do you think it's possible with that 8-pin to add a shunt mod to restore that performance? Shunt modding was very popular with the A2000. Lots of videos on it. And there are few whispers on reddit that it is possible with the A4000. I've never seen proof. But, how cool would it be to have the smallest 3070 Ti in existence? It might be time to experiment! But, I'm not sure where to start. You seem to have the solder skills. I wonder what we could do to up the voltage from the A4000 stock 770 millivolts to the RTX 3070 Ti spec of 1040 millivolts.
@WiltshireTutorials
@WiltshireTutorials Жыл бұрын
Small world, Troy! I saw your build the other day! Very cool build, by the way! Ironically, NVIDIA left the traces attached to the motherboard for the 8-pin to be soldered back on. Not sure why they did that? Maybe to re-use the PCB design for other cards? I do know it is the same GPU die as the 3070 Ti. I think it's definitely possible to allow more power by shunt modding. That was the next step to the mod that I'm going to experiment with. The problem I'm facing is that I don't know how to identify which shunt is the correct one for the 8-pin that I've soldered on. Perhaps it's the closest shunt to the connector? I'll have to figure it out with a multi-meter. The VBIOS still makes the card think the 8-pin is a 6-pin connector. So, that may need to be modded? I'm also unsure what the card will do because it still thinks it has a 6-pin connector on it once the shunt mod is done. Another option is to mod the VBIOS to change the power limit. That in combination with the 8-pin mod may allow us to increase the power to the stock 3070 Ti amount of 1040 millivolts. Only problem is, I have no idea how to mod Ampere VBIOS. I'm not sure it has been done yet either! If we could find the help of someone or find a tool that would allow the customization of the VBIOS, we may be in business!

@@WiltshireTutorials Small world indeed. And thanks man, that was a fun build. I've got a crazy plan to use an HDPLEX psu and put water watercooling into it next. We have the same thoughts on why that 8-pn works. I'm hoping they intended for that PCB to be re-used with multiple power profiles? Yeap, a few possible things to try. Shunt modding, VBIOS, copper modding. VBIOS = Editing the VBIOS seems to be a non-starter because of the checksum protection nVidia put in place. Haven't seen any progress on that. But wholesale flashing a VBIOS from a different card IS a thing. Folks have done that successfully. Not sure which one to try, perhaps the one with most similar PCB. TechPowerUp has list of 3070 Ti VBIOS available including the FE. Those VBIOS probably expect the 8-pin to be active? For shunt modding, I'm not sure which resistors either. As a starting point, Overclock.net forum has a generic RTX 3XXX shunt modding guide. They start with just adding liquid metal to the top of existing resistors to test. But same questions as you, which resistors? Trying to crowdsource a bit, I've crossposted this same q on Reddit and a few forums. One person on reddit claims to have shunt modded the A4000. A third option - it won't up the voltage- but someone could try is copper modding the memory? I don't know if temps are limiting the mem frequency on the A4000 GDDR6 modules, but it was for a lot of the GDDR6X modules in the 3000 series. Some good products and videos available for that.

Sorry for the super late response. For some reason this comment got flagged by KZbin and I had to manually approve it. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the HDPLEX PSU. Sounds like an interesting and cool mod that you have up your sleeve! I did a little bit of research and this is the same PCB as the PNY GeForce RTX 3060 12GB XLR8. So, I wonder if we took the 3070 Ti VBIOS from the PNY GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB XLR8 Gaming REVEL and flashed it. Would it potentially work? I figured Nvidia had done something stupid to not allow us to modify the VBIOS. Wasn't aware that they had put a checksum in place. That's honestly disappointing to hear. I'm thinking that shunt modding is probably the way to go for the result that we're looking for. We just have to figure out what shunt it is! I may be able to get the assistance of Buildzoid, as I've had a few back-and-forths with him about the RTX 2080 Prototype I have. He may be able to provide some expertise on the matter. Also, considering the RTX A4000 PCB is eerily close to the PNY RTX 3060, we could maybe check to see if someone has shunt modded that and use it as an example for what shunt to short? Could be a clue! I definitely believe the person on Reddit claiming they've done it. Definitely possible to do. If it's possible on the A2000, definitely possible on the A4000 too. I would say it's definitely worth a shot to try copper shimming the memory chips. May be able to squeak out some additional performance by lowering their temps. GDDR6X runs quite a bit warmer than just GDDR6 memory. But, still worth a shot.

Why didn’t you overclock it? This card can easily do 200mhz + on the core and 1000mhz + on the memory.
@WiltshireTutorials
@WiltshireTutorials Жыл бұрын
It actually can't overclock too well. Reason being is that it is power limited/locked to only allow 140W power draw. You can't increase the power limit slider past 100. If I were somehow able to unlock the power limit via VBIOS mod, then it would become an OC monster and would blow past the 3060 Ti. Plus, when making benchmarking videos, it is always best to benchmark without an OC first. Not everyone is going to overclock a card and you need a baseline for performance.
@GeneralSouthParkFan
@GeneralSouthParkFan Жыл бұрын
@@WiltshireTutorials The A4000 can still very much OC, especially with a cooler replacement that lets GPU Boost 3.0 work more effectively. Applying a core offset affects the entire voltage/frequency curve, & consequently will increase clocks regardless of voltage. Not even considering that you won't have to worry about a progressively steeper v/f curve (For instance, my AVG bin 3070 Ti will do 1.7GHz @ 825mv, 1.9GHz @ 925mv, & 2GHz @ 1.025V. The amount of gains in clocks that are seen with higher voltages really starts to diminish especially in regards to Nvidia's customized version of SS8N). Conversely, you can also target a voltage that remains in the power budget of your GPU. I've seen 793mv/1.8GHz be possible on good bins, so it should be very possible to match a 3070 at a fraction of the power. These are some examples of A4000 OCs that seem to work pretty nicely. www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/zjs58i/3060ti_vs_a4000_comparsion/ hwbot.org/submission/4815039_

@@WiltshireTutorials lol no worries the wallet will thank me later for the awesome value and potential this card holds! Mine comes in tomorrow. One last thing about the taste and smell. My wife (she a primary care physician) highly suggests over the counter fluticasone/Flonase along with using a saline nasal rinse/spray to regain smell and taste soon. . apparently the longer it takes to regain your smell/taste the more potential of permanent change your brain registers smell and taste later on so trying adding "olfactory training" into your recovery if you want to get maximum recovery and you'll be good as new. Fatigue and brain fog is common. Apparently the newer strains of COVID have a higher chance of dysregulation of coagulation and can lead to systemic microclots (typically not a serious concern; ie don't need to go to the hospital for this) including the brain. Sometimes adding daily aspirin is a good idea but that's definitely something you want to ask your doctor based upon your recent blood work and medical history. The A4000 actually shares the same GPU die as the 3070 Ti! The lack of VRAM kills the 3060Ti for me. It should've been 12GB, like you mentioned. Not to mention the A4000 runs so much cooler than the RTX 3060Ti does!

I'm missing the temperatures.

Temperature values of the GPU under load. Since you modded the cooler onto the GPU, I would have been interested in seeing how the cooler is performing mostly. It's usually the thing what I'm looking at when I mod a GPU with a different cooler. I was interested in seeing the temperature and cooling efficiency benefits of the mod. Ik it's an upgrade video but I miss this bit.

how much is the a4000?
@WiltshireTutorials
@WiltshireTutorials Жыл бұрын
That depends on where you can find it. From most bigger retailers, it's about $1400 (CAD). You can find them used for MUCH cheaper. Around $500-600 (CAD). I managed to get this one used for $350, as a company was upgrading and selling all their A4000s.

Please guys. Can someone show me a cheap cooler for my ASUS Turbo RTX 2080ti blower. The blower style can handle the heat really well. But it is loud as hell. The card just cost me 200 euros so I am not paying 100 euros for a cooler. If anyone has some tips for me I would be grateful

Not sure you're going to find much of a solution without spending close to 100 Euros. Your best bet would be a Accelero Xtreme IV from Arctic or a Raijintek Morpheus

Cut a square hole in the psu cover and put rgb in it

I appreciate the suggestion. However, there gets a point where there is too much RGB. Having some subtle RGB is nice and not overbearing. I like the way the PC looks with the PSU shroud the way it is. Plus, I'm pretty much maxed out for cable managing room at this point.

Fair enough! If you go used, you may be able to find both the 3060 Ti or the A4000 for the same price. I got this A4000 for $300 (CAD) used. So, damn good deal for it

I got used A4000 for $300 few months back, ive not done the mod as its under warranty, i undervolt it at 0.725v its great for gaming + stable diffusion, ive also used other AI programs like whisper, gpt-j-6b, 16gb vram is great. Any google collab program that runs on t4, t80 can run on A4000
