I have to say I am really loving watching the Lutterloh patterns come to life. I purchased another kit, had an old one from like 15 years ago, but when I saw your black dress I went a little crazy buying the kit and supplements. However, I haven’t used it yet but the pair of pants you made in a recent video has me pumped. I will confess I am writing without watching the full video, which I will later tonight, but I am just encouraging you to keep going. I would love to see more on the Lutterloh system. It makes me feel like I didn’t waste my money. Lol The dress is cute from what I see in the thumbnail!

Haha, ok good I am glad you enjoy watching it! I love this system! Definitely not a waste of money in my opinion. Now that I have done a couple of patterns, I actually find it easier/quicker than cutting out a mutli-size pattern. Thanks for the encouragement (and for watching!) :)

Your dress came out beautiful!! I’m sure you are going to get a lot of use out of it. It’s one of those you can dress up or down!! I love that you make clothes that you would wear and using fabrics that you like. This way we see the real challenges with the fabrics or patterns, like working with black fabrics. Have a nice trip home and a great weekend!😊

I really like your dress. Every Lutterloh video that watch on KZbin makes me want a kit more and more. I hope to find something in there and make it look half a good as yours. I'm an experienced sewer. I'm 55 and started sewing patterns when I was a teen. I never made my own patterns though. I love KZbin because I learn so much here. You made a good video here. I like how you present the information I can relate to the sewing frustrations.

Casey, you are just so smart and I love watching how you figure things out. I'm going to get out my Lutterloh books and try something again. I bought that system several years ago and tried a few things. You're right about the issue with trying to find the right place to tape the little pattern on your pattern paper...you should have seen mine with all my chunks of paper taped together trying to make the paper big enough to fit my pattern drawing..Your blazer dress turned out beautiful and the fit is fabulous. I wish I was better at pattern drafting. I thought I would take your class on skill share but I'm not very tech savvy. Maybe I'll jump in and give it a go...Anyway, thanks again for another interesting video. You really do have a great channel. Hope you have a good visit with your family and that everything is ok.

Love the end product.Two of the most beautiful work dresses I have ever owned were faux wrap dresses with a shawl collar. I had one in navy gabardine and one in a red wool crepe (that people would stop in the wild and comment on). I purchased them from a local tailor shop. They fit me beautifully, and they were timelessly classic.

@@janfranklin2114 it seems a bit intimidating, but maybe less than scaling patterns or completely drafting it on my own? But how big does it go up to? Or would I be in the same boat. My brother got me a cashmerette pattern for Christmas, I am like 2" too big for even plus size patterns. 😢

@@GoingGreenMomLutterloh makes two sizing tapes for their patterns. The XL/XXL (blue) system goes from 50 to 67 inches for bust or hips. The regular system is used from child sizes to men and trim to fuller body women (which is noted on the pattern if it is drafted for these body types).

Great program this week-this Summer LBD is perfect. Long time watcher first time commenter. I just love watching you create. The thoughts you share with us as you work through your challenges are very motivational to novice sewists. Great camera usage when sharing how to sew those facings. Absolutely applaud your perseverance on that invisible zipper. This has taught me that I need to do more machine basting when working through my own beginner fitting projects.

I have been using Lutterloh since the early 80s. I no longer use the big 4/big one patterns. I have one or two vogues I’ve had for years. One or two Pamela‘s patterns 97% of my sewing is Lutterloh I’m guaranteed a perfect fit every time, the pattern pieces mix-and-match so you can design your own garment. I know for the most part what pattern alterations I have to make and it’s usually just short waist and length are used to so for myself and my daughter we were two different sizes but I even made mother-daughter dresses. the cost of the program is very inexpensive when you think of what you get and how you can mix-and-match pieces. I highly recommend it to anyone who has had fit problems with the big four patterns or who just wants to have more control over their sewing.

It turned out so cute! It looks both elegant and easy to wear. Personally, I don't find the black that hard to see, especially when the light is hitting it from the side. And of course you should make what you know you want to wear! Weird question for you: What size lens are you using for your full-body reveal shots and about how far is it away from you? I have no blank walls, so I'm finding I have to do full-body stuff vertically, which I don't really like. Yours always look so nice without looking like it's a super wide lens.
@PatternScout
@PatternScout Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm really glad I went with the black! I may also make one out of some floral rayon I got from Minerva for a little bit different vibe :) And my camera is the Sony zv-1 (the first version) and the lens is built in, but I recently discovered that it has a "product showcase " setting that I either turn on or off to get the wider angle view. I used to use my phone camera for the outfit reveals because the framing was wider and less distorted (even though I had to go vertical because I was filming in my dining room for those and didn't want my kitchen in the shots haha). So I recently made a little staged spot in my sewing room that I can get a good depth of field on when I roll my cutting table out of the way. But that little setting on the camera made all the difference (and is also a little nicer for selfie filming so my face is not taking up the entire shot! If I get another camera, I will get one with the option to swap out the lens for a wide angle lens.

@@PatternScout Ah! Yes, I remember looking at the ZV1. I have the Canon M50 mark ii, so I can change lenses, but I think I'm probably dealing mostly with a distance issue. A 22mm is the widest I have, so I'll have to do some finagling...Thanks for the info and hope you had a great weekend! 😄

It is a pattern included with the Lutterloh patternmaking system, linked in the description (I don't think it is sold individually). I hacked the pattern quite a bit, so there isn't a pattern for the specific style. But you could do the same to a double breasted blazer pattern.

What a winner! That dress is perfect for you. So I have a super dorky question...what is the pattern paper you use? It seems like the perfect in-between of the annoying blue-dot pattern paper I use for drafting now and the oaktag I use for TNTs. I mostly draft now from slopers so why is that Lutterloh system tempting me so hard?? It looks really fun.😄This was a really fun video to watch. (I also am very much in tune with when it's time to "wait until tomorrow" to proceed...and snacks)

It's easier for me to copy the pattern and cut out each individual pattern piece, then tape them to my paper. Leaving the small plotting template taped to the pattern piece lets me re-check the drawout and sizing at a later date.

I found this: The XL & XXL System is suitable for people with a bust or hip measurement between 130 cm (= 50 inches) and 170 cm (= 67 inches). By exclusion, anything less than 130 CM bust/170cm waist would be accommodated with their system

I have my mother's "L" system problem is, so much is missing or just mixed up! I think she was loaning patterns to othes and not getting them back. She has a lot of supplements too, but on a pattern by pattern basis there is no way to figure out what's missing because each pattern does not indicate what supplements they belong in.

I have the pattern and the fabric, but I’ve been restoring a neglected Singer 201 and just finished some memory pillows today that I was making for a friend before Father’s Day, so maybe now I’ll have time to get started on that! I bought some lovely blue and white Liberty fabric for it. I love this dress, but I completely understand your frustration and needing to take a step back when you get a little hangry, lol.
