This is my new tropical vivarium! The two 'army ant' species inside are technically not the classic Dorylus army ant - but damn close in my opinion! They are all flourishing together at this very moment I am writing this and I hope you will enjoy seeing the development of this glorious vivarium in the years to come.

I don't know if anyone has answered you yet, but I think your mystery millipede is a bumblebee/yellow banded millipede (Anadenobolus monilicornis). Also, it looks like your UV millipede is male! You can tell by the little separation in the legs near the head where the gonopods are located.

The yellow and black millipede is a bumblebee millipede as it seems, they stay quite small in comparison, about 10cm I think, also the lichen stuff in most colors and forms is one of millipedes favourites food and also quite important to them, so put some lichen sticks inside sometimes, if it doesn't grow naturally ✌🏼😊

You should make a vivarium filled either only passive ant colonies or a vivarium with colonial tarantulas, or even have leafcutter ants in the vivarium since they're known to be one of the few ant species to stand toe to toe against army ants and ither aggressive ant species.

I don't think Triops can work in a ecosystem like that. First of all, they usually lack predators in the early stages of their lifes since they live in puddles. They can grow quickly. You could technically grow them outside of the ecosystem, and then introduce them. But if they're too small, they would get easily eaten by bigger animals. But once they have reached a certain size, they could kill and eat almost anything in the water. Also Triops only live for a few months at most, but they lay tons of eggs in the soil. But in order for most of those eggs to hatch, they need to dry out for atleast a few weeks. Depending on the species the eggs may even need freezing temperatures once they are dry
@nordicants6232
@nordicants6232 11 ай бұрын
Exactly this I learnt last month!! The plan is to put in one or two larger triops from a separate tank to see them swim around inside. Do you think that is a good idea?
@obambagaming1467
@obambagaming1467 11 ай бұрын
@@nordicants6232 no. A larger triops could easily kill the amphibians and fish in the water. They also sometimes attack slightly larger animals if they are weak, by attacking things like fins. Triops are gluttonous predators that wont hesitate to hunt down everything. Also they decimate most water plants like crazy. There are some plants that work, like moss balls, but I had many plants getting decimated by them in mere days

Formica are a holarctic genus so they aren’t present anywhere near the southern coast of Asia. It’s definitely a cool idea but wouldn’t work well in a tropical setup as they would also need other species of Formica to perform the raid upon, which would take up pretty much the whole vivarium.

I think the worm actually got away from the newt in the end… I suspect it didn’t have a large portion of the worm in its mouth, and as the worm crawled under the rock, it used its strength to pull what little length of its body remained in the newts mouth out. The newt most certainly would have a little piece of worm sticking out of its mouth when it resurfaced from under the rock had it been successful. Still very impressive that it went for such large prey!

If you don't mind me asking, I'm planning on putting together a vivarium. But I have so many questions. I hope you see this and have some answers for me. 1)do you do open top, wire mesh or what? I'm having issues planning out a top to it that is smart. 2) do you get all of the plant matter and rocks and stuff from nature or do you buy it? I have been planning to get stuff from nature so I can unintentionally bring other species in like In your long term vivarium. 3)Where do you get the critters that you get from this video and your previous video?? I'm wanting to get a few specific things that I can't get in my area in the wild or would he too difficult. Was wondering if you have any good sources.

Not sure about millipedes, but isopods of all species go nuts for Lichens.

Den med gula/svarta ränder ser ut som Anadenobolus Monilicornis, och de blir inte så stora (under 10 cm) Sen finns det ju andra arter som ser liknande ut som blir större.. Men med de röda benen och antennerna så ser de ut som de jag har.
