when it comes to the apparently ‘suicidal’ dinosaur ants, it’s probably due to one ant drowning in an accident, triggering a pheromone release that attracts the rest of the ants and causing the drowning of so many

It would be amazing to see a publically usable version of this software. It can be really challenging to map everything in a large tank, having some community driven software would make it a lot easier.

I loved the tank its one of the best Iv seen. I couldnt help but wonder about small frogs, beetles, earwigs, katydids, flat millipedes, mantises, opiliones, termites, small skink like scincella, tiny chameleon like Brookesia and scorpions. I wish I was there and could add them in. Also I wouldn't have added the centipede. It seems to big.

Is there a possibility that centipedes eat flatworms? Crabs as well? I know that there's footage of a flatworm, a pretty huge one, being eaten by an even larger centipede with no real trouble.

@@nordicants6232oh my bad I meant centipedes and crabs eating flatworms. I found a Vietnamese video of a huge flatworm being devoured by an even bigger centipede before (I can send) and I know arrowhead crabs eat small flatworms. It's hard to find things that eat terrestrial flatworms but I do not think there is enough research done.

I'm not sure you could realistically control these kinds of ants with predation. Your best bet would be around parasites , parasitoids and disease, etc. Most predators would just take an occasional meal, unthreatening for the demograhy, and few things would dare to close an ant’s nest. Exactly like man-eating lions. They can't stop us from owning the savanna. Sociality tends to make you that broken.
@nordicants6232

Yeah I guess! Maybe a ravenous toad? The thing is I might only need to change their behaviour, causing them not to forage in the open and providing space for other opportunists… but yes very true!!
@justepourlacheruncom8393
@justepourlacheruncom8393 2 ай бұрын
@@nordicants6232 The parasitoids might work for disturbing ants' behaviors (it's proved for fire ants, they are more cautious and spend less time outdoors when parasitoid flies are around). But I guess a toad could do the trick , provided they will compensate with their own predation the foraging area loss. Even one predatory ants in a terrarium is a big deal given how much space and preys they need in the wild. Maybe changing the landscape to make refuges zone hard for ants to reach ? Or maybe temporary refuge with a door to cut ants access and let time for prey to reproduce. A bit like pasture areas ? By the way with a bit of coding you could use some AI machine vision tools to monitor insects populations and ants trails.
