This was originally going to be 3 different pros, so all 3 coaches watched 2 additional pros. But just this one recording with jack ended up being almost an hour, so 2 more would have been way way too long to cut down so I changed it to just Jack. If I keep this idea going I know what to expect this time so I can plan a reveal and the end and stuff!

Hearing Jack's thought process at 8:18 for that play was nuts. Constantly changing directions repositioning in the perfect spot all based around a play that is changing in micro seconds. Kinda highlights the point that pro's aren't just more mechanical than you, they're smarter.

Lower ranked players tend to think that staying further away from the ball when you don't have it is the best way to play. That's mainly because in order for them to hit certain shots/balls/etc. They have to angle themselves properly. They can't just go for everything like a mechanical player can.

7:50 Sunless is spot on here. Getting out of plat is about playing defensive for the most part and not aggressive. You can’t do fakes at this level because people just ego challenge everything but they don’t aim at where the ball *might* go. They aim directly at the ball. You'll never see them shadow defending either they just fly straight at you. Those people get stuck in plat and don’t climb because of nasty 50/50s or redirects as a result and being out of position. I had to adapt to this and after trying tricks flicks and fakes for ages but being hard stuck in plat. Finally diamond, its kinda the same in D1 though but not as bad 😂 Also, this is getting a bit long, but in plat/diamond not many people speed flip, kickoffs make the ball fly high and randomly so cheating up is very hard because you can either over commit or under commit. This is true at higher levels too but no where near the extent of "holy shit it’s over my head an in our net"

I think a lot the difference between Jack's perspective and the coaches just comes Jack knowing what he can get away with. While the fundamental ideas between position and rotation don't really change between the ranks, the details do. Both what you and your opponents are capable, as well as your ability to read and understand that change. When you can reposition faster and maker harder saves more consistently it's easier to be in more greedy positions. When you understand what is and isn't possible you can read the actual level of danger. This is where a lot of the discrepancies between the advice and Jacks opinions seems to be, not all but a lot of it.

They think I'm trying to nab a touch and I'm just pushing pressure on the team to move the ball away from me. They have to split second guess how they think I'm going to act and that bump from them is what should give me tms a shot. It makes the other team give your team the ball. Being fresh out of diamond I understand the diamond perspective. You pick up the habit of always staying back because you a) don't trust anyone becuase no on eis consistant and b) you're just not experienced enough to read ahead of the play, not to mention the plays are all over the place, so getting too close at that level just usualy results in some 50/pinch/long clear flying over your head into your goal.

To be fair since Jack was in a pro lobby then his opponents are also making the same smart decisions, his "mistakes" aren't bad it was just that the opponents skill have lead up to a mistake happening on his part, i.e the mediocre save or when he got scored on in ot

I really enjoy this counter-coaching type thing. The coach’s are saying stuff that most of us regular players are thinking and then Jack explains the flaw in the coach’s logic

You should make this a series, this is really interesting. You get the disagreement of the coaches and the pros and their reasoning why something is better than the other. It's just a good idea. Just do the reveal at the end to top it off.

Some things the coaches say are entirely valid if the person playing isn't world class. Like going for boost when you're at 0 is smart unless you've got the mechanics to do everything you have to without any.
