I Made The Rear Media Permanently Hidden In The Yukon

There is one major flaw in the rear entertainment center of the new vehicles. For some reason the HDMI ports stick directly out and are easily broken. We have gone through several cables and units trying to find a better solution. I think this is a best way to hide the streaming devices and keep them safe.

So I noticed your original media center has three plugs on the back. The replacement USB-C only plate just has one plug location that appears to match one of the three on the original. I was going to suggest you try to move that one plug to your USB only filler plate to see if the USB-C ports still work without any issues to the HDMI ports on the original plate. Then the accessible USB-C ports could still be used for phones and other electronics in the back seat. Then you said you were using the USB-C's inside the console to power the streaming media sticks so I was thinking, well nevermind he is using them back there. Then you ended up not being able to use them and ran the power cables to the 110V AC outlet and I again thought, well let me comment on this video after all because he might still be able to use those otherwise dead USB-C ports in the back seat.

Hi. I am wondering how to watch movies offline on this tv without WiFi. If I can somehow install android onto it it would work. Is there even a storage part of this tv for android to run on?

That is a good question. Short answer is I haven’t found a system yet. Long answer is I was trying to go down that route but it is a bigger challenge than first thought. I thought about attaching a phone to the hdmi but you would have to have access to the phone to select. Then like a dvd player but there isn’t enough room. If you put a memory stick somehow to the HDMI then you can’t access anything through the screens because they don’t control through the HDMI. I don’t know if there is like a jail broken device that can work offline or not.

Oh I have been doing this from day one and my son loves it. Look for an ultra slip USB flashdrive and connect it under the AC Controls. the rear monitors will pick up the source as USB and lists all your movies to watch on long trips. I believe you just have to format your new flashdrive to fat32 for the system to recognize it.
