Pepper don’t get that an engineer in general solves problems at hand. Whether that’s civil engineer, audio engineer, etc. If there was one formula to make every song sounds good there would be no need for an engineer.

You gotta do your own adjustments basically and see how it turns out. I tend to use more air than your supposed to but I add a dynamic eq to the high end to smooth it out

I am very much an amateur tracking / mixing / mastering engineer. But I have been writing hip hop since I was a kid. I have been banging my head against the wall learning how to use different recording hardware, DAWs, plugins etc. its seems to be true that theres now one right way to do things, but I habe definitely made progress using different combinations of the information received from the myriad of videos, tutorials, and literature in the audio community. There's really no wrong answer or method to mixing. I'm about 2 years into the craft, and some days i literally clocked 12 hours a day recording/mixing failing and succeeding. I am only recently getting to close to a pro quality sound, and honestly it was the very basic fundamentals that mafe the difference, namely the nailing the tracking was key. Before I could track well, it made all the following steps in gains staging/mixing/mastering feel impossible and become a chore. Even eqing vocals was a nightmare. The silver lining after all the suffering with bad equipment and vocal stems, now with good vocals (especially not my own vocals), its seems easy to mix grear songs and fun through the whole proccess to the point its hard to believe i could get paid to do it one day.

yea yup, u right, I keep trying stuff sometimes that others would say is wrong, just today I tried putting waves kaleidoscopes plugin on master bus to a mixed beat, ngl it made the mix trash compared to what it was before but doing stuff like this daily I now know what works, what might and have some bells and whistles picked along the way, I do what feels right, sometimes I be sticking to some of my own presets I made which sometimes limits me so I clear out my mixing chain to force myself to find another way around the mix
