The new booklet says to remove the paddle after kneading is done & before the baking starts! This eliminates the big hole in the loaf of bread from the paddle.
@richdavis40074 жыл бұрын
Wow! Cool idea. I don't generally have time to hang around the bread machine after I turn it on, but when the first beep goes off telling when to add raisins, nuts, etc. that's when we scrape the sides so flour doesn't get stuck there. If I could remove the paddle then, I would. Otherwise, I'm not coming back later. I'll check into it, though. I really appreciate you telling me about this! Would be nice not to have to have to dig the paddle out of the loaf! Rich

Mr Rich I agree it’s a great machine I got mine 7 years ago still works great. French recipe is my favorite only one I make. I use # 9 dough option, remove dough, firm, let rise 2nd time, then bake in the oven. No hook hole in bread and since it looks better I think it taste batter. Thanks for sharing.

Yup, I own two Oster bread machines, both of which I bought from thrift stores. One cost me $5 and the other $8. They totally kick butt. I took a recipe that I got from my cousin that has you bake the bread in an oven, but I was able to do it in the bread machine just fine. If you bake bread in the oven, you have to crank up the temperature insanely hot. Thrift stores almost always have slightly used bread machines for cheap. A bread machine is just one of those things that people give as gifts for Christmas, birthdays, and weddings, and then the recipient makes one or two loaves of bread and never uses it again. So off to the thrift store it goes. But I don't use my machines just once or twice. I make bread all the time because the bread's quality is so superior to supermarket bread that there's no comparison. I got a second bread machine because sometimes I would make a loaf and give it away to a friend or neighbor. So then my house would smell like wonderful bread, but I would have no loaf to eat. So if I'm giving away a loaf, I'll have both bread machines out baking their loaves. Thirteen bucks for two bread machines. I got my money's worth.

Bread machines are one thing you don't have to pay much for if you are a smart shopper, as you have proved. $13 for two bread machines! Super! Why people don't make their own bread, I'll never know. Rich 😊

@Pam ela Bread Machine: Have all ingredients at room temperature. Whisk together dry ingredients until thoroughly blended. In separate bowl, whisk together liquid ingredients until very smooth. Follow your specific machine instructions for adding liquid and dry ingredients in the proper order. Set controls with gluten free setting and bake or program settings to knead 20 minutes, rise 65 minutes, bake 70 minutes, medium crust setting. Gluten Free bread only requires one rise. Remove baked bread from bread machine and cool thoroughly on wire rack before slicing with electric knife or serrated knife. Makes one 1-1/2 lb. loaf (12 slices). SERVINGS 12 people PREP TIME 15 minutes COOK TIME 75 minutes PASSIVE TIME 30-45 minutes Ingredients 2 cups + 2 Tbsp Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour 282 g 2 1/2 tsp Xanthan Gum 7 g 1 1/2 tsp Sugar 6 g 1 tsp Salt 6 g 2 tsp Quick-Rise Yeast 6 g 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar 5 mL 2 Egg Whites 60 mL 1 1/4 cups Warm Water 188 mL Instructions Grease a 2 pound loaf pan with pan spray or oil. In a bowl, whisk together Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour, xanthan gum, sugar, salt and quick-rise yeast. In a separate large bowl beat together the vinegar, egg whites and water; this mixture will froth up quickly. Gradually add dry ingredients to frothed egg white mixture on medium speed if using a mixer. Beat on high for at least three minutes if using a stand mixer. If using a hand mixer beat about five minutes. The batter will appear very glossy. Pour batter into prepared 2 pound loaf pan that has been sprayed with vegetable spray. Smooth the top. Cover lightly with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 30 to 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk. Meanwhile preheat oven to 400°F. Uncover and bake bread for 1 hour at 400°F, covering with foil after the first 30 minutes if the crust is too dark. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Allow to cool before slicing. It can be torn while still hot but it will not cut. I prefer it sliced and toasted. This is a Bob's Red Mill Recipe...I have kidney failure post chemotherapy but getting so I don't do wheat or cow's milk or products made with either.

Hi Rich! Thank you so much for this video! I got an Oyster Bread Machine at a sale, so I used your receipe to make my first loaf. I used all your ingredients except I used Honey and Activated Yeast because I could not find the Saf yeast. I actually put the yeast into the water because I saw another video where a lady did that and also because I thought it had to be "activated". I also didn't realize you used the French bread setting. Anyways I used the "Basic" setting with medium crust. So it came out extra crispy and the middle kinda sunk in a little. Well I'm still learning so...any troubleshooting advice? Probably the yeast I'm thinking. Also the packets are 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of yeast premeasured. And I want to say yours is just beautiful and white! Mine was looking more like wheat bread and I used white flour.
@richdavis40074 жыл бұрын
Please click my channel tomorrow, Crystal. I have a new and better recipe coming out in the morning. Yeast should have been on top of the flour. The recipe I show tomorrow can be used for wheat-french bread combo or just french bread. If you just use white bread flour in tomorrow's recipe I think you'll have a great loaf. I don't know the yeast you are using but the recipe calls for 2 3/8 tsp. Saf Instant yeast. One of your packets may well do fine but I might leave off say 1/4 cup of flour. All bread loaves don't turn out perfect but I've managed to eat all my loaves, even the one where I left out yeast altogether! You can get in touch tomorrow if you have any questions! Best wishes.
