I make some DIY motorcycle mirror extenders Susuki DR650
Dino’s Tinker Shed, S1-Ep27. Homemade, DR650 adventure bike mirror extensions
In this episode I will walk you through how I made some inexpensive yet effective mirror extensions for the DR650. Although these do not have all the features of more expensive aftermarket mirrors they also only cost me around $10.00 Canadian to construct (this is opposed to $40.00 for the store bought version) and were a fun project for the tinker shed.
To construct these, you need two 4”x ¼” black pipe nipples, a M10x1.25 tap, a nut of sufficient size to drill out and fit around the pipe and two M10x1.25 bolts with enough thread that you can use them as studs. If you do not have a welder, you can skip the pipe nut and use red lock tight to secure the threaded studs into the pipe.
These extenders can be removed when riding off road or you can remove the mirrors and stow them safely in a bad or box while you take the path less traveled. Again, this is not the most convenient method but is very cost effective for the budget minded rider of someone like me that just likes to tinker.
