I admire you showing the things you did not know, takes a big man to do that, most channels make you think they already knew how, and allowing us to see the transmission slip out of the vise was extremely helpful, because I've had things like that happen alot. You have become a very good teacher/seasoned repair man. I understand the pains you leave out, slit fingers, hurt fingernails, busted knuckles, slippery hands that won't hold anything, those little details can make a repair almost impossible, thanks for the nice video.

My brother bought an old 1987 john deere 165 off market place an it broke 15 mins into drivin it. The axel had pulled out of the gear box. Watchin taryls videos i tore into it. It was a hydrostatic drive specifically an eaton. The c clip in the planetary drive wore out an got shredded. We cleaned replaced it and reassembled it an bam theres your dinner! Taryl you gave me the confidence to do it haha. Im the son of a millwright so never been one to shy from a mechanical blunder but man what a proud moment haha

You did a good job and you deserve a pat on the back. That was a long and difficult job. And you handled it using your know how. Not many places would have opened the case on this transaxle they would have said to just replace it. So you saved your customer a lot of expense. He should be grateful that you worked on it!!!

Very few shops will replace an axe on, or repair a trans axle period. Never have seen a Lawn Boy zero turn. Good job.

True... I have a lawn n Garden Dealer several miles from my home I buy Most of their trade in's with trans axle issues for next to nothing and repair them, they tell customers they are "Non serviceable" and Either sell them a NEW trans. or take theirs as trade in and sell a complete New Mower, I go over the rest of the Unit and sell used tractors and zero turns as a Hobby . i'm a Retired / Disabled Heavy Equipment Mechanic.. keeps me occupied and still somewhat productive, Keeps my tools from rusting up..lol

Already did my axle change years ago ,and had to fix the cracked fram that it was mounted to .before I put in the new axle I repaired the old one by drilling and tapping the hole in the end of the old axle and put new flats on the outside to reinstall the hub also had to make spacers to go between the hub and wheel so the tire wouldn't hit the frame. This was several years before I found the upgrade axles.worked fine.

Hello Terryl and the rest of the clan! Thanks for another well-made video!! I just wanted to add a piece of info. The reason that v-belts are tapered is for one specific reason. The taper creates more surface area, which aids in preventing belt slippage. The sides of the belt are longer than if the belt is square, not tapered. In other words, if the depth of the belt is 1/2" when formed, by adding a taper, the length of the two sides will be increased. To know how much taper there is on a particular belt, measure the height (thickness) and then measure the length of the sidewall. The sidewall will always be longer than the raw thickness. As far as the ribs, they also help with contact patch by forming to bends in its path. I'm sorry for such a lengthy description. However, sometimes, it can be tough to explain something clearly when written versus speaking. God bless you all and again, thank you!!!

In reference to pressure washing your house now that you have it nice and clean, you need to get a product called wet and forget. You can spray it on with water hose. Then you won't have to pressure wash your house again for at least a year and a half 2 years. The product automatically keeps mold from coming back on your house, it doesn't matter what your house is made of. Wet and forget uses the sun and the rain to keep the mold and dirt from accumulating on your house. This product is widely used in cemeteries to keep the headstones clean.

Wished I lived up by you and learned from you. I was working for a repair shop on weekends mostly doing oil changes and tire repair or replacement of tires till the owner and his wife started coming in drunk on Saturday morning and started treating employees like crap. When you see the main repair man on motors grab his tools and walk out on the place . In 1 week that couple lost every employee working for them. Like you say do the best job you can and treat employees and customers like their humans. My biggest complaint there was his wife would let oil filters and air filters we used the most on Friday there might be 2 left on shelfs. Come in Saturday morning and there was 4 to 8 engines needing oil change and air filters . Now you wait till the delivery guy or girl shows up.

One of my earliest "mower memories" was my big brother running our Lawnboy across the street to help a neighbor cut their overgrown yard. About 1968. He hit something that destroyed the mower, and I remember my dad was pissed. He liked that mower and was furious when the shop said it was destroyed.
@RonGardinierАй бұрын
I really enjoy watching you channel! I would like to have a zero turn mower, but in the winter it would sit in the shed doing nothing and I would need a lawn tractor with a blower on it. I was wondering if a snow blower could be mounted to the rear of a zero turn mower and face the seat in the opposite direction and located on the other side of the control levers, I’m sure there would be some considerations for safety switches and the like. It would need to be converted back for summer use. I’v been using a lawn and garden tractor for many years, sometimes clumsy for snow and not very efficient for cutting my 3 acres of grass.
