A friend owns a (real) 437 Cobra, which he bought new in 1965. His philosophy is it will never be pristine, because he drives it. Often. He takes advantage and enjoys it for what makes it valuable: the driving. Otherwise, he says, he should just buy diamonds, or gold bars, and keep them in a safe deposit box. I agree. If it makes you happy AS A CAR, then enjoy it-- as a car. 👍

What a stunning deal 😉

When I was starting out owning "euro-cars" I found a fantastic mechanic who used to work on the Ford GT40 LeMans race team. He serviced Ferraris, Lambos, Lancias, other high maintenance cars. He drove a rusty 1994 Nissan D21 pickup as his daily driver.

Keep it, it makes you happy! Drive it more, every couple of months or so you could palm the kids off to the grandparents take the Lambo and probably the missus and spend a Saturday night in Scotland or somewhere. I’ve got a couple of older cars, a 1985 s3 Jag sovereign with 245.000km on it, I really go to my happy place in that. I fixed and replaced mechanical things. I lowered it 50mm with better springs and put on some good Koni shocks so I can throw it into corners better now, there are no rattles or squeaks and even all the electrical stuff works, including the cruise and trip meter. My other on is a 1998 burgundy VT Holden V6 Berlina wagon which I bought in 2000, I’ve had to repaint this and it is also mechanically sound with 320,000km on it. This car in this spec is hard to find, it’s just a pity it’s not the 5.7lt V8. Yep, I’m an Aussie.

Some very cool classic cars have slipped through my fingers over the years, I look back and regret parting with all of them! I’m 61 and my first car was a Ford Capri 3000E.. obviously it’s not generally practical keeping them all but my biggest regret was parting with my 1970 Mach1 Mustang back in the 80’s, still haunts me, today I’ve a small collection of 60’s Mopars in different stages of repair but I’ve learned my lesson and I’ll never part with them, it’s not about the money or affordability, it’s about the passion, if your Lamborghini has a place in your heart, don’t sell it just because last summer was crap, if you don’t use it a lot, buy a cocoon for it to preserve it. 👍

Keep the Lamborghini. If you pay tax monthly on it you can just get tax as and when you want it. The same can be done with insurance from some companies providing for fire and theft only just to cover while in storage. MOT does not cost that much. The price of it will go up so it is good investment as long as it is looked after. Keep it so it is still road ready all the time and wax the bodywork which takes very little time to do with modern car wax. Same thing with the Cozzy.

Back in the eighties I wanted a MK1 Vespa T5 my one goes mot exempt next year, my daughter wants me to get it gone but I says to her that I waited decades to get the right one and yes its not running at the moment being furniture in my living room, its a first 1000 build one so super early and sorry but it was my lifelong dream to have my one which is also customised and I put in a higher power engine into and it does make an excellent seat for playing on da Xbox hehe Next to it in the living room is the 617th Lambretta Li150 built, actually made in 1957 but listed as a 1958 its frame number is a lot of zeroes and 617 it is a rolling project but still how unique it is...

I think it's a mistake to divide the costs of ownership by the miles driven. The value to you isn't just in the driving. It's also in the 'keeping". You need to put a value on the time you just sit in the car when you're in the garage, the time you spend washing and polishing the beast, and the time you just think about the car and how lucky you are to own it.

SOLUTION: Sell Lambo now. Buy a CNC mill. Start manufacturing parts. Buy a new Lambo from the income that you generate.

It depends why you own the Lambo - if it's primarily an investment, get rid of it and put the money into your business instead. If it's primarily a toy and you can afford to keep it, keep it and enjoy it however you like. There's nothing wrong with owning something just because you want to - you've worked hard and deserve it. If you sell it, you will absolutely regret it far more than you would regret keeping it. Pricing it at pounds per mile is absolutely not the right way to look at this. Does the annual cost give you enough joy to make it worthwhile? If it does, it's a great investment in your own mental health. I own a car that, because it drinks copious amounts of high-octane fuel per kilometre, costs a lot in mileage terms, but I get so much enjoyment out of owning it and driving it when I feel like it that I would never consider selling it. The annual cost is worth far more to me. What else would you do with that money anyway, apart from pissing it up against the wall?
