I was amazed on how heavy that ring was to start but even more amazed on how long a chain that made. A few weeks ago at the same store, I bought a 12.9 gram 14K bracelet for $4.50. People are lazy here and don't bother to look things up.

can you do this with 14k as well or does the original piece have to be almost pure gold? I have a necklace that is my mothers and I haven't taken it off since she died in 2013.... I also have some gold jewelry she bought for me as a kid that doesn't fit anymore.. I always wanted to melt it all down to make my moms necklace thicker and more masculine since her chain is only 1mm or less thick.

Usually when u melt jewellery it goes a little impure due to the solders in the item
