I messed up BAD this time! - 1986 Chevy C10 PART 2

As promised, here is PART 2 of this weeks episode where I work on pulling out the trashed small block 305 engine out of this old 86 chevy c10 pickup that I lovingly call THE JUNKYARD DOG! This episode was...well...."fun" and I hope you enjoy watching me learn all the wrong ways to get something done. I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now. I’m really enjoy the content. I’ve was a ford mechanic for 24 years and I’m still learning., I’m so glad you weren’t hurt hoists turned over. I was pulling a transmission out of a mini van . Two arms on the lift didn’t lock and the van nose dived. I ran out from underneath the van. I wasn’t hurt. I agree with you about always be careful on anything you do. I wish you the best with your Chanel. You’re doing a great job.

Im so glad you're ok. At least its out now. You gave me confidence to put a new engine in the purple starliner. Sadly we don't have cement to roll the engine hoist. Great job when you get your hoist i think buy a plat to go over the intake where the carb goes that should help distributing the weight and pulling out smoother

Just for future you, you have a lifting point on the front left head you utilised, there should be another point back right head. Another thing I will do is jack the arse of the vehicle up to gain a little more trans tunnel access angle. You can also lower the front tyre air pressure to bring the truck down

I couldn’t find the rear hook on this motor! Good idea on jacking rear up and lowering front. I will keep that in mind!!

I had the same thing happen with one of those harbor freight hoist. lol I ended up changing the wheels and it never happened again I took some wheels off old pallet jacks

I was screaming nooo! At my phone. Tip of the day, when your pulling your hood by yourself. Find an old blanket and put it on the windshield. Then let your hood slide down then flip the hood on the roof. Your back will thank you. I did it on my 73 C-10.

Climbing into the engine compartment with the engine in there Haphazard is Very dangerous! Should have cut exhaust closer to engine block making sure nothing is in the way of yanking engine out. Always need to disconnect Trans crossmember. Glad you didn't get hurt!

Be careful man I've had the unfortunate experience of being stuck under something and not able to get out fortunately it was due to my back and not being squished but it's a bit scary after a few hours and Noone has been by to help

Unbolt flexplate from torque converter, and unbolt engine from trans , then unhook all the other crap that you have to unhook anyway

You hook the engine up wrong you don't hook the engine up from the front you hook it up from the top like a X tip with to chaines on to the engine
