Starting up the 350 sbc on a $25 engine cradle

Just finished building this hot small block and wanted to make sure everything was right before I put it in the ol camaro. Bought the cradle on eBay and ran a garden hose through the thermostat housing (after removing the thermostat) to keep the motor running cool

I think that's just the flexplate you're seeing through the header to the backside of the engine

@thecommodoredecker Look closely. You can see to the flexplate between the header tubes. The plug wire just happens to be right by that

Water flows the other way the intake port flows to the radiator.

No belt driving the water pump so it doesn't matter, gravity and physics will move the water through long enough for their purpose.

Cold water will not hurt that engine for the minute or two he is running it on the stand. I doubt he is doing a full tune. If he got it hot hot then the heads may warp.

@@meyou3353 it was a typo bro. It can still crack the block, even running a short amount of time like that can cause damage. Those water jackets immediately get hot after just a few minutes running, especially when revving the shit out of it. I don't care what anyone does it's his property but I see that so often.

You can literally bolt it down onto some fat timbers long enough for a short test run. Just hook everything up as normal minus like the trans and cooling system, crank it over and see what it does. It either started or your diagnosing begins here.
