I really liked this too and that you said at the very end is sooooo relatable for me the thing about missing your carefree self I used to be a light, like I wasn’t in anyone’s face but I was.l aware on the impact I had I was just happy go lucky and it kinda dies out around 27 and then I worked at this super homophobic construction job where I couldn’t express myself like at all I was like made fun of and like if I tried to let my old fun side out I’d be like shit down like I was there for 3 years and then have been in better work environments but I just know that happy boy is still inside and he comes out here and there but I just haven’t heard it out so eleoquently and haven’t related to something more so hard in years and you and your videos have always been good vibes man I’m glad you are still being healthy and doing what you love and glad you felt reinvigorated by this trip man pray or wish I can get back into working out and being that guy I once was lol you can see that kid if you search Robby it gets better AACC lol kinda camera shy in that Anyways love you mark great vid

You never miss with your portrayal of human emotion, Mark and should be so proud! It always resonates with me as someone going through a similar time. I didn’t really have words to put to those feeling but that feeling of loss of youthful sparkle hit home, even at a mere 26 years old. Time and looking inward as cheesy as it sounds heals all and just gotta keep going and finding things to love and enjoy on this planet full of us tiny little beings. Such an awesome vid :)

I'm going through a similar phase too right now. Turning 27, full time job well away from the college/young area. I reflect back on times when I felt really creative and had that brighter perspective about either life or the future. I ended up making a list on my phone of "Life Enhancements" which are like lists of things I want to get back into that I lost touch with, whether it's yoga or music ensembles or just even hiking. I think the area you are in and the people you choose to surround you with really play into getting back into that mindset too. Your light is in there Mark! Just as much as I know mine is too. Sometimes you need to combine a few sparks to get the creative fire started again, and that's where the friends you make and the family you choose really comes in. Glad someone else is feeling this too! Thanks, Mark

Only just "met" Miles through this video, and I like him a lot. The last part really resonated with me Mark. I'm about 10 years older than you, so it's hard for me to even remember _if_ that youthful carefree kid ever even existed beyond early childhood. My growing years were all about education and getting on with work, and consequently I have a good job which fulfils me, but it also _consumes_ me. Last week was atypical, but I was on duty for 110 hours, and I didn't do anything fun the entire week, not one thing spontaneous or just for the hell of it. I haven't been on vacation abroad for six years now, and it's not only work but also some real health issues in close relatives that mean that is the case. I can feel "life" (as opposed to work life) passing me by, so thank you for the timely reminder that there is another person inside us all, crying to be let out. I hope your video also helped other people too.

You are just fine and where you are supposed to be at this point in your life. It sounds trite, but wisdom grows in us as we do chronologically. And that manifests in all your posts.

Loved the message at the end. I think we change a bit as we grow. We learn and absorb new things, but we are never truly different. Sometimes we mask who we are and it's not the best thing to do. Surrounding yourself with people who bring out the best in you, your true authentic self, is what I think we should all search and strive for. The older I get the less I care what others think. If I'm not true to myself, I'm not happy. If I'm hiding my goofiness or nerdiness, it's just a fake reality. Why do I need to fit in, people should just accept me for me and when they do it's absolutely beautiful. I think the old mark is still there within you, maybe just evolved. Life is not a plateau, there are bumps, hills, and bridges along the way. Sometimes we must climb mountains to achieve something. It's all in the journey my friend.

Mark, the young have their energy, hopes and dreams, but it takes time to learn to deal with reality in a balanced way. You are obviously learning that, while reminiscing about the more care-free days of youth. Maturity does have its advantages, as well as its challenges, but one thing that you learn is to remember and cherish the days of youth, while being aware of the incomplete and unfulfilled life back then, and if you've done anything well (which you have) you can bring it all into a balanced perspective and both appreciate where you've come from as well as where you are. Maturity is learning from your youth, without regretting your youth, since the marvelous person that you are is a product of all the both fulfilled and shattered dreams that were part of your youth. On a lighter note: I'm glad that you met your "crush"! Now if I could only meet mine - but I don't think Ryan Reynolds will ever come to meet me in Indianapolis. He's so gorgeous, witty, smart, and masculine - what else could one ask for? Anyhow, I've enjoyed following you from your college days, and I hope that I am able to continue to see you grow and mature in a fun and healthy way!
