The raw iron block you found and the weird placement of iron is a giant iron ore vein. They span huge areas and have iron mixed with tuff. It is a 1.18 feature. There are also ones for copper and gold

Iron ore can generate as a large ore vein found at deepslate layer. These veins consist of iron ore, blocks of raw iron, and tuff.

A suggestion: with the nether gold you should smelt it when you have got it using silk touch so if you smelt it in a furnace it gives you a full go,d ingot.

@@princeemishi245 no it doesn’t, I’ve seen it tested in other videos and when mines with fortune it’s like an average of 7 nuggets per ore, which is less than an ingot, which therefore means less gold than smelting it. I’ve also tested it out myself if that helps anything.

4:08 that’s a large iron vein. It is a long vein of tuff with iron scattered around it and if you mine out the entire thing it will give you a lot of iron, they also occasionally have raw iron blocks generating in them
