You just needed to break the blocks on top of the beacon till you get to bedrock. The beacon beam goes through bedrock.

You can use beacons in the nether, it just needs to be able to see directly up to the bedrock ceiling

fun fact: Beacons actually work in the nether. You just need to break all the blocks up until bedrock. the beam will shine through the bedrock

I think you should make a tree similar to your tree in the overworld but using nether tree woods (warped/crimson) and have the portal in it so it’s like you’re going through the tree in both worlds if that makes sense!!

The beacon actually works in the nether! It just needs to have bedrock right above it and no other blocks as the light pillar goes through bedrock

Here's an idea for your 100x100 hole in the Nether. What if you made it look like the End, but Nether themed? You could make it look like a void using black concrete and then build Nether Cities styled after End Cities and make a custom Nether Void biomes.

You should make a big island in the middle with a custom nether biome and portal with blue glass as water since it might corrupt your world to go back updates to put real water in, maybe transport some swamp villagers over and make a little custom village in the biome

You should put as many 16x16 nether farms as you can vertically in separate chunks(depending on the biome), making the center chunk your AFK box/base/flex. You can just mob-proof everything else or make render only 4 chunks(?) when AFK-ing.

The reason the Beacon didn't work in the Nether is all of the blocks above the beam, if the beam doesn't have a clear shot to the sky it won't activate. Strangely enough though, this doesn't apply to Bedrock. Meaning a Beacon _can_ work in the Nether, you just have to clear out all of the non-Bedrock blocks above it before it'll work. Making Nether Beacons too much work IMO.
