Most stores in my area have cut back on self checkout or did away with it all together. A new Dollar General opened in my area with only self checkout & people refused to use it, would walk out rather than use self checkout!

I’ve read stories of some retailers in some regions abandoning the self checkout system…. Looking forward to return of my local cashiers…. Live long and prosper my friend…

I agree. The groceries are over priced and now we do the labor as well. Yet the same cashiers that would be doing the scanning are now being over paid for just standing there. The only perk (if all the scanning goes good) is I don’t have to talk to anyone but again that all depends if the scanning process goes smoothly.

Not over paid. Cannot live on one income, and are not allowed to open another full service lane. Snickering? Rude and disrespectful seems to be too common these days. Sorry you experienced that.

I know what yoy are saying....i decided it qas far easier to order from any grocery store and do a pickup at the time i set. Wegmans is the worse for arriving and you cant get your app to show you are waiting. I resolved that real quick....as i pull into parking lot...i call customer service and say I'm here for my groceries but my app wont work....no problem they get my name and out come my eats and loaded up.....I've been known to do 3 grocery stores in one morning....just arrange times and it's done. Good luck.....today some people can be rude

It's 2025. Surely we can manage to scan our own groceries by now. I'd RATHER scan and pack my own stuff, because that way I know I won't find the toilet cleaner in the same bag as the apples or the raw meat with the bread. And I won't charge myself twice for a single item, either.

I like self check out at Walmart the best because there is no machine sensitivity issues.

@ yes, cost to deliver to my door, however don’t remember how much I paid last time…. Will have to research local market. Good question about picking up groceries in the parking lot, will have to research that as well
