Whoever got the wheels before me, we aren't friends. But I was slacking so its fair lol Still got us a really nice new center console for the wagon so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Sometimes, things like that happens for whatever reasons and you feel like burning the whole care but hey…. Gotta keep your 🆒🤣🤣🤣🤣 - I have cup holders on my arm rest. Apparently, it was an option in the US. But I’d LOVE to have a US center console with the cup holders

I remember when I first started to watch your videoes, when you got that first green golf 4. Youve accomplished some really cool projects! I was so inspired that I even got rid of my Skoda and bought a Passat b5.5 1,9tdi 4motion, all about the vws. Keep up the good work!

Had the same problem when I swiped in a cupholder console. I bent mine but ended up throwing in an anniversary edition e brake that fit even better. Great video man!

Yeah I was able to bend mine over a bit and it works. Still a little snug but it works. I’ll probably go back and grab the correct one from that golf. Small little difference you’d never realize till you try and swap the console 😂

Cupholder console is a must have! Remember to get the handbrake too, as it's angled a bit from the older console. I'm currently at 9 OEM cupholders in my Bora variant, but I know how to get it to 11, but requires me to get rid of my MFD 😅

I drive a ‘98 Mk4 and can confirm the slide-out cupholders are an absolute menace. I really need to start looking for this center console for it cause bro I feel your pain, it’s happened to me more than once

I had the dash one in my first mk4 golf I got in 2004… never again. So many exploded drinks. Now my 3 Mk4s all have the cupholder console and the dash cupholder removed so it’s not even an option.

Glad to see you have found and added the later style center console with the 3 cup holders 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I also this in my 02 wagon it makes a big difference to have large drinks in it while driving 🏁

style 19s are dope because they are oem bmw wheels, 2p and bbs but they are probably the ugliest oem wheels ever produced. the spoke design is just horrible but definitely would have been a sick find

Surprised you hadn’t swapped this centre console in earlier. The base of the e-brakes of the cars with this console are skinnier allowing them to fit better and have the bend in them obviously. One thing to watch out for is the models with the 4 spoke fake leather wheel(like the tdi from this video) also have a fake leather e-brake so you might want to look out for a car with a genuine leather wheel to match your interior better. Loved the video as always. Better luck next time on the junkyard BBS finds🙌

The europe center consoles have two cup holders for the back seats under the ashtray, they extend out like the one in the dash. Only the cheap basic models didn‘t get them, so i wonder why don‘t u have them? The cupholders are one part that can be retrofitted in the old console.

The ebrake handle cover is thicker on earlier models you should have just needed the cover for the ebrake handle

Thinking of swapping in the TDI 5th gear when I pull my trans to replace the throwout bearing, drop in a SMF conversion, and VR6 clutch… not sure how much work it is but I like the idea as the stock 5th on the gasser 02J is just too many RPM for my liking at highway speeds (let alone letting her rip…)

You need the ebrake assembly with that center console, they are slightly different

Yeah Idk how I didn’t notice when I had them side by side. I made my current ebrake work but it’s still a little tight. I’ll probably go back and grab the correct ebrake handle for it

@@Mk3Smith I'm sure it'll be there. Once the console's gone the e-brake handle just looks like any other e-brake handle. If it is missing let me know. I have a few extras. I grab these consoles with the e brakes anytime I find them, but some of the consoles are a little worse for wear, so I tend to have a surplus of the correct e-brake handles

I feel your pain. Also wanted to set my car on fire after trying to swap over the center consoles. wish I could’ve warned you before hand lol. I ended up going back to the junkyard to get the whole ebrake handle. The mounting bracket is a bit angled just for the stupid cup holder. But worth the swap. Cables are the same. I was hyped for you to find those bbs wheels ! Next time

Haha yup lots of frustration 😂😂 I wish I would have noticed it was slightly different but it’s all good. I made mine work but I’ll probably go back and get the correct one so it’s perfect.
