Faced the exact same thing while returning from Goa to Chennai last week. Luckily one amazing airport personnel called back my check in suitcase and had it put in it and I was able to just board the flight minutes before take off. The DGCA's handling of Drones in India is draconian and outright stupid. India has become the most restrictive country to own a drone and they treat a drone as if it's a criminal offence to own one. I flew from Bagdogra last week and had my drone in my checked-in my luggage with the batteries removed. Even then I was forced to open my suitcase, show the drone and was cross questioned for nearly 15mins. All this for carrying a Mavic mini which is a nano drone and doesn't even require a license to own and fly! Thanks for all the information! And hope the government will revert some of these outlandish laws in the near future.

Hi!Gorgeous! I faced the same problem for my dji mini drone while traveling from BLR-JAIPUR on 11 Nov20 but I carried my drone with me during flight travel as I kept in checkin bag after a bit questioning by security personals they advised me to keep drone batteries in handbag (laptop bag) and drone in checkin baggage. For thrice times I was doing up and down and this got me irritated but somehow I keep myself calm and finally I bring the drone with myself. Just to suggest all that keep yr drone batteries in handbag insted of checkin baggage. If possible whenever security personal ask what type drone you are carrying just say them it's a toy crafter which is min 250 mg only (only for dji mini drone) ...nothing else have to mention beside this. I am a travel professional and I have kept my drone safely with me during travel with keeping my mind and behaviour calm at the airport and during a bit questioning by security personals.

Yes. I travelled twice after this incident. There is no problem. Drone body needs to go in the check-in bag and you can carry RC and Batteries in the carry-on.

just unpack everything, it should not look brand new, and keep the drone body in check in bag. Batteries will go in carry on. RC can go anywhere no issue with that. Custom might be an issue but just pray and you'll be fine.

I'm a frequent flyer and I was kind of scared carrying my drone in check in luggage because You know how well they handle it. I never experienced any issue before this flight so I took it in a handbag as always but strictly they told me not to carry it in a carry on as per the new rule.

The drone should not have been carried in carry in cabin baggage, it should have been in check in baggage!!!
