I recently heard this song in english. I was astonished. I now for the first time heard it in Swedish. I shed tears 😢😂 Ot could be any mans dream to have a voice like Tommy K. And anyhow, let's be happy for this treasure of a man. His voice is truly inspiring, strong, resonant and beautiful.

Russia is a stunningly beautiful country and Russians are faithful toilers who truly love their country. They have reason to! Just think of Russian music and literature. The problem is that they have a top politician that we all know the name of ... who is destroying the country, destroying a neighboring country and therefore destroying our trust in Russia as a nation. It is tragedy. Russia deserves so much, much better. I am pleased that Tommy Korberg reminds us of what Russia can be at its best. The country really deserves a song like this. God bless a wounded Russia!

The English lyrics are quite well adapted considering delivery and rhyme - but there are many differences, so I'm posting in the hope you'll find a 100% accurate translation from native Swedish interesting. :) IN THE COUNTRY OF MY HEART May the Prince of Darkness Draw his sword, threatening and wrathful. English/Swedish translator here, I just want to say: Well done. I see so many poor translations of Swedish lyrics to English, especially on KZbin, so it’s refreshing to see someone not butcher the process, but actually doing a very good job.

The english version is actually the original, the swedish is the translation.

@johnmyhill960 It's perfectly possible for a translation to exceed the original (atleast in some people's opinion). I haven't heard anything about Chess being written in swedish first.

​@johnmyhill960 As an example, Gabriel Marquez has said that he prefered the english translation of his book "100 years of solitude" to the original spanish one. It would ofcourse be largely a matter of opinion, but a translator could potentially be a greater poet than the original writer and thus produce a better overall text. I'm fluent in three languages including swedish and have sung professionally both the english and swedish version of the Anthem. A good rhyme in no way proves something has been translated and the last line of the english version is not nonsensical, it's just a way of saying that Anatolij feels his homeland is in his heart. If you have info of the Anthem being written in swedish first I'll gladly look at it. I'm not saying it's impossible.
