I monetized my channel and nobody noticed

Hi Lee. Happy new year too you. I don’t mind you monetising your channel. Seems sensible and helps the hobby. The thing I don’t like is when people make videos about stuff they have been sent for free. It just turns channels into company advertising channels I either stop watching or unsubscribe.

Happy New Year. I can understand the decision. KZbin puts advertising in front of all our posts, whether we want it or not. Why not ask for a share? I'll probably never get close to monetization anyway. I had already thought about Patreon, but in reality I wouldn't be able to give anything in return that was appropriate for me. That's why this will not happen (soon). The project seems to be progressing well. 👍

I had not idea you monetized your channel - have to watch out for that tempter at Storm of Steel! 🙂No outrage here: I enjoy your channel, and I'm glad to see that you're able to pick up some money doing what you would be doing anyway. I'd already noticed that the ads in your videos were appearing in convenient places so guessed that you were monetising. More power to you for being up front about it though. As a viewer it actually improves my enjoyment of your videos to have the ads placed like you now have them. I'm also happy you're getting some money back for what you do. Win-Win as far as I'm concerned.

Do whatever you like, it's your time and channel. Doesn't affect me at all since I watch all KZbin through a privacy browser that has built-in ad blocker. I haven't seen an advertisement on KZbin in over 5 years.

I have no problem with monetizing channels, if the adds are there anyway and I had noticed no change and I rarely see an ad on your videos. Got a large 28mm Napoleonic Russian army myself some in coats. Great Stuff and Happy New Year!

I have no problem with content creators monetizing their channels. The ads appear in the video anyway, so why not get something back? It's a no-brainer. I don't understand why people have a problem with creators monetizing their videos. Also, when KZbin Premium members(me) watch monetized videos the creator earns more commission than the regular view. Keep at it, Lee! Happy New Year!

Absolutely worth monetising the channel and earning some pennies from the ads. Like you said, KZbin was running ads anyway and now you have control over what is shown and when, whilst also earning some of that ad revenue for yourself. It's great that the channel has grown to a point you can monetise and every little helps when it comes to hobby expenditure! Thanks for the support. I'm not raking in a second income, but more than I thought I would. I'd certainly recommend anyone with a Channel that meets the minimum requirements in terms of subs and watch time etc to consider giving it a go.

I thought it would go under most viewers radar. At most you may have noticed that mid-roll adverts only appear between sections rather than in the middle of a monologue. And for some videos like show reports I choose not to have mid-roll adverts because I think they'd interrupt the flow of the video. So, far from impinging on my creative control I think choosing to monetize my channel has given me more control (and a few quid in my hobby fund 🤣).

Being in control of when ads cut in is preferable. Used to get up to three in odd places before only 2 at the start and one at a natural break is better than before, and as you said keeps the flow of the vid.

For some videos I can choose not to have mid-roll adverts to keep the flow (usually on show reports or battle reports). At least I now get to choose whether to have them and where they are placed.

I'm close to monetizeation on my Irregular Magazine channel. I plan to monetise as hopefully this will help with costs towards better equipment and additional hobby materials. I'm not expecting to make enough to quit my job, if that was my plan I wouldn't be making hobby related videos 😂 😂

As someone who has had to give up full time work so i can care for my disabled wife, I have the time to attack my lead/plastic mountians so started filming my work and the occasional review.... and yeah, I hope to reach Monitisation levels (a long way off with only 170 subscribers at the moment), as not only does it show how much people appreciate my efforts, but now income is limited, that extra few quid a month would help develop my wargame projects and participate in tournaments....

I have not watched all your videos but I can not remember any adverts, certainly none in this video. On another channel I did see an advert for expensive cologne, that did make me laugh. All those spoilt young men trying to pose and look cool, can't see any wargamers buying John Paul Goatybeard perfume.

I don't really see how anyone could have a problem with you monetizing. Ads are going to appear anyway, so the money is better in your pocket than KZbin's.

Exactly. Monetizing doesn't increase the ads (in fact it gives me the freedom to stop some if I want) and the little revenue I do make goes back into the hobby and the channel.

Get so used to adverts, usually for something totally inappropriate anyway so makes little difference. I usual judge your output and whether I watch it all on your content and my interest in the subject.
