Had this playing and wasn’t listening intently, but, then heard Serigne Salliou’s God Mommy. Ears perked right up! ❤ That would make you a sister of his amazing Mom which speaks volumes! That would mean the Diakhate family showed you Senegalese terranga. Best wishes! Have to come see you the next time I am in Senegal. And yes! French is great to know and Wolof is even better as it helps to form connections with the people. While French goes a long way, Senegal is much different from other Francophones in that there is a preference for Wolof mixed with French rather than actual full on French. Of course this can change as you go further away from Dakar where other languages like Diola, languages from the Manding branches such Diahanke or Pulaar in may be the primary or only spoken languages in those regions.

Why are we still speaking French in Africa? What kind of NONSENSE is this? Can we speak our native language? Colonization is really deep in Africa

I'm Senegalese born in the U.S. I want to move to Senegal. America is falling and I miss Senegal. It's so peaceful compared to the west. People are happier, funnier, more calm. Less in a rush. Food is better tasting and better for the body. Last time I went there I lost a dress size in 1 month.

@@Trikeria WOW, it's you! ☺️ I'm an African-American male born and raised in Arizona. If I'm able to save up, I'm interested in moving to Ghana...I don't want to come back to America, only for my family, or income if needed. I did two DNA tests. One test revealed I'm mainly a mixture of different African groups/countries, and my African ancestry test on my mom's side revealed that I'm 100% Akan. The Akan are mainly in Ghana, and some are in Ivory Coast and Togo. From what I see, it seems us so called "African Americans" are Hebrew Israelites, the people in West Africa and other parts of Africa are as well, but a lot of them there, may not be aware of it.

I’m a teacher by profession. It wasn’t easy but luckily I chose a profession that is still highly needed worldwide. If you are in a different profession it probably will be more difficult, mainly if you have no connections in the country. Also, the unemployment rate here is nearly 50% so imagine.

I definitely think we focus too much on slavery and not enough on when we were Kings and Queens, when Africans first ruled in Europe, how we crossed the seas before Christopher Colombus and the Portuguese plus much more.
@patrickrealestate-8193

Before the transatlantic slave trade and modern migrations, humans left Africa in waves. Around 70,000-100,000 years ago, Homo sapiens migrated, some following Asia's coast to Australia, others through the Levant (Israel, Jordan) to Europe, reaching the British Isles 30,000 years ago. Another migration occurred 45,000 years ago via the Bering land bridge, populating the Americas during the Ice Age. These movements were influenced by environmental changes, population growth, and resource exploration, shaping diverse global populations over millennia.

1. The vast majority of enslaved Africans were not "kings and queens" in fact they were victims of war and sold as a result 2. Africans did not cross the sea before Columbus, the Malian myth has no basis and they didn't even have the sail to allow for trans-oceanic travel. I know there's a deep need to believe these things to feel better about yourself but it's perpetuating a false history. Having Central African inlaws they don't have qualms about how their ancestors lived and who they were. They don't feel the need to "compete" with eurocentric history. I recommend doing the same.
