i find it fascinating how grass is always greener. Peter mckinnon always did his shots and videos by himself as a one man army and now recently got his big production for hyundai and more incoming, and is super excited to have a crew hes in charge of, and then you have Danny who did all that and wants to go back to solo again. Its funny how everyone has something else that they prefer. it really goes to show that what youre after now might change and youll be happy doing things you used to and make you appreciate it more. Congrats on the move! I actually totally agree with you and understand completely what you're saying about when you get to the big budget projects, you almost feel more empty inside. As a DP that has always wanted to do huge agency level commercials, and after doing them for a while, I felt the same way. It almost gets less creative and you're just pleasing all these new directors and agencies. I miss just creating to create back in the day

I totally agree with the fact that the more people there is, the less personal the project becomes. The end result, most of the time, is not really what you wanted in the beginning (in a good or in a bad way). That being said, reducing the number of people means raising the skills of the remaining people, thus much harder work for them (or for you if you want to do it alone)...Personally, I'd share the work for the technical parts of it and keep it limited to a few people, if not just myself, for the creative parts.
