GIRL, you EXACTLY situation of the taxi at airport issue happened to me in Medellin, Colombia & I ended up getting SA’d. The most helpless I felt in my life. Sh*t put an entire halt on my solo travels, as I began second guessing the whole solo travel thing & how easily 1 resource (our phones) can become inaccessible & we are fighting for our lives. I lived in Adana, Turkey for five years. I was a kid and everything I just saw is 100% true. The men do treat you like queens, and are very friendly. Ekmek is everywhere and is really good. You better say your prayers before crossing the street. Allah's will is the motto they live by so keep that in mind when crossing the street. My mother tells the tale of a Turkish person picking me up and running across the street because he saw her struggling with two kids. My brother was younger and she was trying to hold our hands. The Turkish person said their going to die and helped us. Lovely people.

I loved it there!!! And one of my high school classmates lives there as well. I also met one of the black basketball players that plays on the international team while living there. And we were from the same city in Dallas! Istanbul is very special. And the BEST food ever!!!!!! I ended up living in Mexico now. Been here for a little over two years.

Black woman here, just returned from holidays in Antalya. Honestly, the Turkish people are the warmest most hospital people ever! Prices may be tricky according to whether you have a local with you or not, but one can not hate the hassle 😄The country is beautiful and their food is super delicious!
