I have a Garmin etrex 12 channel GPS. It's old, probably early to mid 90s model. I use to use it on my buddy's property in Southern Missouri. When he passed away I stopped using it because I really didn't have a use for it any more. I need to see if it still will work properly because it's way out dated. The comms and map reading are really interesting to me. I know next to nothing about it so I have a lot of learning to do lol. Thanks for the info you shared. It gives me a starting point on what I need to obtain.

Thanks for the vid. Love radio stuff, I have a Uniden scanner on my desk. It's a little sad because the batteries are dead and I have yet to repair it. Most emergency frequencies in my country are now encrypted so the scanner is sadly of little use to me. However, because of your cozy video I have started to look into some replacement. It is hard for me to invest into this kind of survival gear since even public transport has USB chargers. I know this is the wrong mindset but it's still hard to get gear most likely never to be used. Basically my smart phone is my tech gear and I try to build power management around it to keep it running, like solar panels and portable chargers.

Great video SSgt. I'm still trying to get in touch with the people in my local HAM radio club to find out when there will be the next certification class in my area. Besides having a CB radio in my truck I want to have HAM and GRMS capability as well.

The HAM radio club in my area is tied in with the Emergency Management Agency/SAR group making it hard to get ahold of anyone especially with any emergencies that call them in such as them doing Search And Resque.

Definitely man don't need all this expensive fancy stuff, it's better to have cheaper, which do the job, cause you could lost it or someone could steal it, and so it will be not such a loss. Your stuff is pretty good for Bug out scenario. Man should rather think twice in which stuff invest more or less, and bug out is for sure not a camping trip.

I would think WROL kinda does away with the need to have a ham radio lic. just saying. personally I am a low tech kinda guy! I keep a couple burners, looking into ham radio lic.! 2 way radios all over the place, in all our reg. BOB's! I am a compass & map sorta guy. Radios and phones can be a way to be found! by those you love, and those who would do you harm! I don't like the Idea of putting those i am in care of in danger, for a convenience. It just does not weigh out in my head. That's just my personal glitch. Great video as always! I have put my bag away already, but I'm always up for upgrades!!! :)

Just curious on the Baofing if you can manually program channels or do you need to use the program disc and usb connection? Anyhow, I remember watching the military guys if they were in a hole using communications they would bend the antenna whip to shoot there signal upward.If they left the antenna vertical they would use it on flat land.Just a tid bit I learned from those guys years ago.Everyone take care.

Thanks friends for the help.Have a good day.
@agoraphobicadam11717 жыл бұрын
Oh, yes, Dont bend the antenna on the baofing.I was just mentioning the big whips on military vehicles with the pot bellys on them designed for many ham frequencies.Anyhow, I hope I did not mislead anyone.Take care all and thanks for all the hospitality on this you tube channel.

I acquired one of those rhino GPs / tracker and I'm having a hell of a time and hopefully you might be able to help me out because I haven't found any information whatsoever and how to fix the issue. My Rhino was a marine issued military tweaked version with the patrol routes still on it and I have no idea how to get the patrol routes off. now my tracker is the original one it only tracks 6 satillites and was full of Iraqi sand but it still works .
