One thing that many people do not think of is steaming your food. In a dire situation, you may not be able to acquire cooking oil or butter to cook with but instead of holding meat or fish over a fire or trying not to have any vegeables you may be able to grow turn to mush in boiling water, you can use a double boiler to steam. Additionally, you can use a small raised stainless steel rack in a frying pan or cook pot with a lid and steam without using cooking oil. A few minutes ago, I hard boiled two eggs with a steamer using only steam. Perfect Thinking out of the box is really the only way people are going to survive an apocalyptic world.

I steam my food regularly. Start out with water with meat and as the water dissipates I start to add the oils as needed. It takes a lot of the grease out of meat. And I don't use as much oil because the meat is mostly cooked by the steam and the water.

Exactly! I've been saying the same thing for years. The latest thing I've started trying is heating my house by leaving the door open on the oven and leaving it on high in fanbake mode. Personally i've managed to get rid of my cooker altogether, replaced with Ninja 15in1 and Ninja oven and a 9" standalone hob (perfect size for my Presto23). Potatoes/rice/pasta in water go in the bottom pan on the hob, veg in steam pans stacked on top, i use my eyeballs and common sense to avoid mushy vegetables

Rinse your mouth after brushing to dislodge any particulate remaining and then take one teaspoon of the oil and swish, keeping in your mouth for at least 15 minutes. This is what is recommended for the benefits to reach all areas of your mouth and kill the pathogens. For the VERY BEST RESULTS, floss before brushing. Dental health will be critical when dentists are rare or nonexistent.

If your trash doesn't get picked up for two or three weeks, it will attract flies, roaches and ants. You can take and spritz a little WD-40 on your trash can and it will repel these. Don't use a lot because it's not great for the environment but the bugs hate the smell. You could use essential oils such as lemongrass or lavender oil but these tend to be way more expensive and break down much faster than WD-40. 👀🤞👀🤞👀🤞👀🤞

EMP is a Known science. Metal enclosures have the energy flow as eddy currents on the surface of a metal enclosure, therby preventing the waves from entering the cage. There is no problem lining up a metal box for emp. A bigger problem is the rubber gasket. You may want to use aluminum foilninstead.

I had a neighbor who fell on hard times. She had 5 kids and 3 dogs to feed. I did pick up a bag of dog food for her, but she stretched it mightily by adding rice to hamburger grease, then mixing a scoop of dog food in. They were satisfied enough. Those kids ate like ponies though! She kept them full of carbs, because they ate so much. For instance cooked a lb of rice, added a lb of cooked hamburger and mixed in a lb bag of mixed vegetables. That made the biggest pot of food! Theyd all go back for seconds or more.

Listen to this, I used to work for many years, as a maintenance worker in huge facility. My job, was always outdoors, either near a huge long beach, or on fields full of grass and wild life. When the elements of nature gone wild, only piece of gear I had to survive, was those black drum bags, that I used a ton of them every single day. What the survival instructors usually demonstrate, on how to use them to survive, is exactly what I was doing ,to survive bad weather. The closest building to me, was very far and in the same time, I had to stay out, because that's where my work was, Imagine my surprise, when I watched all those survival lessons, where all instructors, advised people to do, what all those years, I thought was ashamed of doing, putting a garbage bag as a raincoat...It can work to collect wild edibles, plants or mushroom etc, as also as a poncho. It has so many uses and it's super easy to carry one or 2 or even more. Versatility is your friend in the outdoors. Don't go for big heavy tools, go as lightweight as possible and always choose versatile gear. Do not fall into the marketing traps. You do not need Magnacut to survive. actually that and any other hard steel, is the last steel you want, in a long term survival scenario.

The Dr came in, looked at it and said OH good, they already cleaned it! I told him I had cleaned it not the nurse lol. It was full of black muck sand when it happened so it took a bit of cleaning. He said it looked great. They recleaned it with a pack of those wipes you showed, rewrapped it like I had and gave us a script. It healed quite well. In the mid-1960s, Martin Denver heavily modified the Titan II ICBM Launch Silo. One of their mods was to replace the rubber weather seal around the Silo Door with one that contained 'Secret Stuff'. The original was covered with metal mesh, as was the new one. They both looked the same. I know because I was there. This implies that the rubber seal, on an Ammo Can, is an open door to an EMP Pulse........ Also, all outside lines leading into the Control Center were passed through 'Spark Gaps'. The Spark Gaps were mounted on a weavy metal plate, which was grounded to our extensive grounding system via heavy Braided Strapes. One of our daily inspection items was to verify no damage to these straps. Yes. EVERY DAY! I never knew how dental problems could be so detrimental until recently. I had to get a tooth pulled and i kept thinking how bad it could have been in a shtf situation luckily i keep a lot of antibiotics around but theres only so much that will do and you dont want to overdo antibiotics.

Faraday Cage (specific for EMP) Grounding Question "For a "six sided shielding box" (faraday cage for equipment not in use).... "you need a very low inductance to ground. This is desirable for HEMP and IEMI. Ground rods have high inductance, and while necessary for lightning, are of limited help against high frequency transient phenomena". `DHS-CISA EMP protection and resilience guide, Version 2.2 - 5 February 2019 unclassified.` it also refences the various mil-spec standards.

QUESTION: I unfortunately don’t have access to those ammo boxes because I live in Mexico (I am an archaeologist, 43 yrs. now). I was wondering if it would be practical, providing you could get some, to glue something like felt all over the inside so that you could throw all kinds of stuff in there but nothing would actually touch the metal. My homemade faraday cages are so small, I wish I had something bigger. I could have a metalergist make one down here and the expense isn’t bad. I know that you are ridiculously busy, but if you have any suggestions about something like this, please throw them my way. What is the best metal to use to make a larger box, and is there anything I could line the inside with so that I don’t have to worry about putting each individual apparatus inside something else before I put it in the box? We also have a craft thing called Fomi (like foamy), and it is sort of like a sponge but very thin. I know they have it in the US but I don’t know what it is called there. Maybe it’s a bad idea all around, but if you could give me a hint, it would make my day! I have been a prepper practically all my life because of my job, but I still always enjoy and learn from your videos.

There should be plenty of ammo boxes down your way. No need for felt, just wrap everything up in a pair of undies. Take them off first of course or you might get some funny looks when you go down to Taco Bell for lunch. The Fibre in undies is designed to handle nuclear force farts and unexpected boners so its like gorilla glue, it's one of the most durable substances known to man. Bury your ammo boxes when you're done but mark it so you can find it again.

Metal cookie cans, small metal buckets, cardboard box covered with tin foil make faraday cages. Two things, put an insulating layer inside the can so items don’t touch the metal, two test the faraday cage with a cell phone. If you can call the phone using cellular or WiFi, it’s not working. Don’t forget to label the can if you have more than one ha ha

Zip ties are not all impervious. The white, yellow, green and blue ones have no UV inhibitors. The black ones are colored black with the UV inhibitors. The pretty ones will last a month or two then crumble to dust if used in the sun. I have black ones in use for years that are still OK. Duct tape is OK but I prefer Gaffer tape.

If I had to choose one thing to bring with me into the woods, I think it would be a big cast iron pot or kettle. I assume I do at least have the clothes on my back, so some protection from the elements present. I can make cordage. With that I can make shelter and a bow drill. I can even improvise a crude cutting edge, but I can't make a watertight container that will withstand the heat of an open flame. With time and resourcefulness I could perhaps make some kind of container that would allow me to use the hot rock method of boiling water, but it'd be a lot easier if I just had a pot. I could also, with time, break the end of the handle off and forge it into a small knife, and at that point I'm on my way to modernity.

Baking soda does help with heartburn but chewing gum also does a great job to settle down the acid in the stomach. As we get older our bodies change and I find that I have more stomach upset. When I worked I used to chew gum all day long. When I retired, I chewed less and I found my stomach was getting upset every day. I started chewing gum again, and OH MY! Stomach acid seemed to settle down. I'm not saying it was miraculous but I sure felt better. Also, speaking of those iodine pills. If you have a thyroid condition I read that you might be better off not taking those pills. I have not been able to subtantiate that but if anyone on here is medical and knows, please share. I'd appreciate that so much!

There's a lot items that are available to choose from to your needs. Dollar store reading glasses, Hook and Loop roll 1inch and 1/2, twine, single use cyanacrylate (wounds, quick fix items), sharpened rebar to make quick ground rods for the faraday bags/cages and spears, portable AM/FM/SW/NOAA radio, bag of 1/4 inch washers (make shift eyelets) including "fender" size". For that matter 1/4-20 hardware (quasi-common size cameras, tripod mounts) along with 7/16 wrenches.....forget about 3/8 hardware because if you think you loose a lot of 10mm wrenches now..........

A great tip. There are many different qualities that those bags come. The thicker usually is better, however, I 've worked with thinner bags, that were a lot stronger and durable, than some way thicker but poorly made bags. As we speak, I've found a no name roll, that has the toughest and strongest bags I've ever seen, however they are thin and lightweight!! If you want stealth, go for black, if you want to be found, go for Blue. Blue is one of the colors, that stands out way more than orange, in the outdoors. Trust me,,, that's true.

I think the liquor might be counterproductive , yes it will have a high trading value, but do you want all the drunks in the nebourhood to know you have extra ? People knocking on your door at 3AM . The risk of someone in your home being tempted to get drunk in a SHTF . One drunk person can cause alot of trouble. Here In The Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian the liquor stores were looted first and those drunk people caused all sorts of problems for everyone . I think it's far to risky to have items that people have an addiction to . I've seen what they will do to get them . Great video otherwise

Potassium Iodide is definitely of no use. It is a very old erroneous concept from over 50 years ago. I am a physician who has prescribed Iodine 131 for Hyperthyroidism. One lady had a count of 205,000 over her thyroid at 1 week (background is about 50). Count was still 50,000 at 3 weeks. There is no increase of thyroid cancer at 40 years in proper clinical studies. The thyroid is ablated after a few months safely and will need thyroid replacement. The smaller dose of radioactivity to the thyroid from fallout will kill you for lots of other reasons and will not be affected by iodide pills. Don't forget that radioactivity is use to treat a lot of cancers.

A related recommendation would be to build a digital library of user manuals for devices you own. You can store it on your PC, but also back it up to one or more usb drives whenever you add a new manual and also load it onto your e-reader.

@@SDWNJ Make more than one copy, and store each in a different manner of faraday cage to insure some of it survives, same goes for electronics, never count on one particular type of cage for protection for electronics you want to save, unfortunately there's just too much guess work to be able to say that something will definitely work, best to do 2-3 different setups for cages. Also when is it safe to start checking saved electronics, they think a second or third EMP will follow in order to wipe out anything that survived the first 1-2 🤷
