I played it once few weeks ago and I really really liked it. I was able to reach the 100G points mainly because I was able to set the peace in Europe (after playing this card the game ends, but I was happy with that). One more turn and I would be defeated, that is for sure since I ran out of my generals during the last campaign. It was a very very tough game and I enjoyed it from the start to the end. The only negative I found is the "potential campaign table", which is not a final version and I got stuck there. I had to find the updated version on the GMT web, printed out and used is as a replacement of the one which is in game.

The game looks gorgeous, but I’m still undecided on purchasing it. I have so many unplayed games, it’s hard to justify a purchase unless I think I’m going to love it or learn a lot.

Random guy chiming in ... I understand the having too many games; I have spent the past 2 years rebooting my collection, and have sold off just under 500 games since Oct 2022 ... with plenty more to go! .... being much more judicious going forward. I do have a copy of this one, just sleeved it and getting my toes in. If you are curious about Napoleon, but not yet a Napoleon expert, I'd say this is perfect, esp if paired with excellent histories / biographies of Napoleon. I have his memoirs (they can be found online, public domain!), and hope this game can serve as a vehicle for deeper study. I used to know near nothing about the ACW, was allergic to it, ACW gaming turned me into an ACW nerd; Nappy gaming may do the same!

@jpotter2086 Wow! 500 games sold, damn that’s a huge collection just in sold games. I haven’t really dipped my toes into ACW because the amount of counters and setup intimidate me. The games seem too complex for me.

@@PoultergeistBoardGames My family is cursed with collecting bugs. Some of us are "serial" collectors ... maybe most of us. Books, movies, games are my things... music and books are my brothers ... dad was into coins and cards and trains .... yeesh. Wargames can be a lot. Look into digital options? If interested in ACW, there's an oldie from 1998 that I STILL play, even tho I learned how to "game" it 20yrs ago. Robert E. Lee: Civil War Generals II, available on GoG I think ...

Just a heads up the “A” admin token doesn’t reset for the first year, but ever year after it does though. Gives you some A to play with in the second year.

Thanks for that.

how long does a game take?

It all depends on how long you last. It can be from a few minutes to a few hours.
