Read through a few of the comments and I couldn't agree more. This was an excellent video. One of the big reasons I think why people enjoy your videos is because you're different from the pros who make the most technical sections and jumps look super easy. You still ride the best trails in the world with relative ease but you don't have the flashy style like those guys do. What we don't get see for those guys is the years of practice and coaching they put in to being that good, but with videos like these we can see that for you and your improvement. I don't think you'll take offense to any of that cuz you have skills on the bike and you're cleaning technically features like a boss in all of your vids. This video just is so much more relatable for us folks who have only been riding for a few years or less and gives us some direction on how to improve. Great video.

You nailed it on the head, man! I hope I can progress with my skills and get better and better and be able to show people that is is possible to get good through coaching and practice. Outstanding information. The heel drop is so misunderstood. One of your best videos to date. Ian sure knows his stuff. I'll be watching this video a few times for pointers. In a parking lot or inside your garage on a rainy day, working on the basics like one handed figure 8's, nose wheelies, track-stands, and hopping (bunny, side, left/right) can be very beneficial.

In most of the times, the main things that keep us apart from learning a new trick are those "bad habits" Ian mentioned. after i "learned" bunny hops (which took me some hard times), I took one entire year to realize I was doing it the wrong way, and when focused on improving my technique I find out how hard is to "rebuild" the trick mechanics in my mind and 'forget' the wrong technique and body positining mistakes. Be patient, train hard!
@bkxc7 жыл бұрын

Just ride your bike intuitively, NO CLIPS, just practice bunny hopes over a crack then over a garden hose, common you know eventually you will do it, then move over to something bigger, practice pulling the back break and bouncing around on the back wheel like a pogostick, practice wheelies etc and for thos backflips and shit: come on americanos you in america go to a foam pit and whallaaaaaaa You know the best way to learn? Don't ride your bike and just watch these vids instead...You'll be pro in no time

It's hard to know how to respond when someone makes a comment about the price. Are they critiquing the perceived value? Are they saying they wish they could afford that great service? Or, are they just prone to complaining about what everything costs? For me, I am thinking of how I can make the trip down from Canada, with my own personal bike loaded up in the back of my vehicle, to get a few sessions with Ian. From my point of view, his prices are fair, the value is obviously great, and the market seems to be confirming this - otherwise he would have to lower his rates.

I enjoyed the video. The modesty of approach, the lack of ego's, the nice setting, the intelligent advice and coaching methodology were appealing. I grew up in Shropshire, UK in the early 1970's. My friends and had MX crushes, but were to young (and under resourced) to own MX bikes. So we converted our push bikes with knobbly tyres & MX bars & rode steep hills, including the world famous MX hill at Hawkstone Park! . We created trails with our tyres rather than shovels. This was years before the MTB was invented, and along time before Marin county claimed to have invented the sport. Some coaching in those days would have prevented a lot of butt breaking & ball slaps! I have worked in Oakland (sailing boats) and have mates in SF. If I get back there I will look you up. Great video .

wow I expected to see a lot negative comments because you know, its the internet but the progression of getting over the 2x4s with the log kinda speaks for itself. my bike has so much travel that I could probably just clunk through but this help a lot. Thanks!!

I found this video extremely helpful. I used to "hang" off the handle bars over the rear tire but instead dipped into a squat. Tremendous improvement. Immediately noticed much more confidence and stability going down hill and could turn in much faster. Still can't bunny hop worth shit though!

Fantastic tips he gave I never thought of having my body centered over back wheel and the bike does everything it's self. Have to practice this for sure

Like others have already said awesome video. It great to watch you have fun, but to see how happy you were from learning that stuff was awesome. You flew over those obstacles with confidence where in some of your videos you can tell when you don't want to do something. Very cool

This is awesome. Great video! Speaking of bunny hops, I switched to flats this year in hopes of ditching my cheating habit of pulling with my clips. After a day of practice I got them around 8 inches off the ground. So I can say for sure they'll be really nice by the end of this season.

There you go! I'm thinking about making the switch.
