Use the doors for the closet where washer and dryer will be. Extra ventilation can’t hurt where water heater, washer, dryer etc are. Dogs won’t have reason to go thru doors to get to washer. Unless wrestling, or maybe tail thumps would damage doors.

Interesting video. I like the doors but see the point about the dogs. I, personally, would leave that decision a bit until the walls go up so I could better decide if it fits my vision. I might also consider using them for closets to solve the possible dog issue. It would still have the nostalgia. As far as dust, I’ve had them for closet doors; I liked the air flow they give for closet smells and a feather duster cleans the dust out easily. I’m glad you are being prudent in this heat. Your body thanks you.

I'd just screw on 1/4" plywood onto the doors and paint or stain it. It would be strong enough to repell the dogs' antics and your view from inside the bathroom would be the neat looking louvers. Please hang the doors from the wide board so you have more wood to carry the weight of the door.

I agree. Use these doors for now. Save the money for some of the other things you’re going to need in order to turn the shed into a home. Get out of the sun for a while, and for goodness sake, don’t feel as though you have to apologize to anyone for taking a break. It’s not the end of the world if you decide to change out those doors , fact is if you’re questioning it at this point for a couple of very good reasons , just bite the bullet and find something you know you will be happier with . After watching how meticulous you are with your yard work I think you should follow your gut before you frame out for those doors . Six hours of moving dirt yesterday ! The louver doors might be good where your putting the washer and dryer to let the heat from the dryer out. I can see the heat is taking a toll on South Texas this year. Great video ❤

I would hold off on hanging the door until you have the walls in so you gett a better idea. Having said that, I would be hanging them the other way so don't see through the louver. If you don't use them there, use them for your wardrobe. Thanks for the video. Small hay bales in Australia are about $10 to $15 (about $6 to $9.50 US)

Mini split AC/heater and tankless water heater because it hangs on the wall and doesn't take away floor space like an old fashioned one does. Everytime I watch, you seem so much happier and I'm glad. Jared, I feel your pain. Here in SE Louisiana we’re having the same horrendous temperatures and drought. We pay $14 per bale of Coastal Bermuda hay shipped from Florida. Bahaia hay costs less but not as great for the horses. Don’t overdo in the heat. Blessings.

I saw how easy the louver flexed when you touched it. I'd use those doors for a headboard or a free standing screen, but not as doors. You could pin nail some Masonite over the bottom section, but you'd have to paint it.

Writing from NH. We have prices ranging from $6 to $10.50 a square bale for 1st cut. We have to get top quality hay for older horses. We will be buying 2nd cut for the mini horses, they're getting older and they need the softer hay. Not sure what the price will be yet. Belated Happy Birthday!

The louvered doors are great for venting the closets. If you are concerned about what the dogs might do to them, cover the bottom half with a piece of plywood. It will not only keep the dogs from crashing through, but it will make the doors sturdier. Everything is looking great. Can't wait to see the goats on Goat Island.

It's a pocket doors so I think they would be in the wall most of the time. They don't look bad. But if you are already worried about the dogs you better just go get a heavier door. You could use the ad closet or laundry room doors.

We bought them for 5 in the field. It I’ve seen them go for $1 in field rained on. You might consider harvesting some tree limbs with leaves for them. If you’ve got quite a bit of property that needs to be cleaned up, you could get a few limbs every day to cut down on your feed bill.

Keep the doors. Cut plywood to fit in where the weak sides are on BOTH sides. Screw it and glue it and either paint or sand down the plywood and clear coat it or stain it then clear coat it.

You could reinforced the doors at the bottom half with some wooden boards or plywood. Pallet wood might even work. I think those doors are much more interesting and unique than any new doors you're going to get at a big box store.

I would buy solid doors and paint them for contrast in your house. You could use those doors as a decorative piece outside or in the yard somewhere. Get creative!

One thing to think about, if the meter for the power is the new kind that transmits it's current readings, maybe have the meter base away from the house and have a line run to the circuit breaker panel on the outside. There have been studies that the transmission from them can be harmful if you are close by it on the other side of the wall. Now, it's something that hasn't been "officially" studied but enough concern out there to just be safe, since you have control of the meter base now. Anyway, hopefully y'all can get a well/spring dug soon. Run a line from it to the yard and have a sprinkler system and feed your pond. God bless you all and keep you safe

I like the doors and think I remember you saying the were some your Granny had. I’d keep them for that reason alone, even if I had to paint or stain them a darker or different color. Plus they’re different and cool, you can’t find doors with slats that tiny anymore. Just my opinion. Don’t get too much heat it will make you sick.

Have you thought of painting them white? Or like what was suggested by a commenter, get 1/4” plywood and attach it to the back of the doors (paint that white) not the slots and then you would strengthen the doors, give more privacy, and have a two-tone white and wood door.

I would cut the louvers it and insert a half inch piece of plywood with molding around. Paint them the same as whichever color you go with. Great job so far. Nice your Dad likes working on this with you . Keep up the good work 🙂🙂
