As a former LEO in the United States, it is unfortunate that all you can do is report it to the Police, but there is nothing they can do, nor you. An officer has to see the violation for themselves; they can not cite based on another persons reporting. That's to protect individuals from a vindictive neighbor/person/etc. I know it makes mad, but like you said, Guardian Angels were watching out for you. The person driving that erratically will wind up in an accident and/or getting cited. I do not know what German law is in this case, but that is how it is in the USA. There is such in increase in this type of driver.I rarely drive my car now. I used to ride a bicycle on the road, but after two of my frieds were hit by cars I stopped. I only ride in the forest now. Usualy I am alone on the entire ride. There are too many crazy people on the road.

Unsafe passing is illegal even in a passing zone. File a police report with the dash cam video. Someone else might also have seen the vehicle and the combination of reports could lead to the identification of the vehicle.

With the precise position and time from GPS .. phones that were nearby at that time can be found. With only three vehicles nearby at that precise time, eliminating one shouldn't be difficult. If they really wanted to catch the driver, they could. If there was a fatal collision that the culprit escaped from and drove away .. you can bet the police would be knocking on the culprit's door by sundown.

I think the best you can do is submit this to local authorities and hope the other victim reported it and maybe just maybe they can investigate with local body shops and vehicle make experts to find the driver. ps. looks to me like sparks on the left side of the screen. very faint only in a few frames and speculation. it could be light drag from the taillight. let the experts determine this.

That looks like the kind of reckless driving you see in Russian driving accident videos, except that a serious accident always does follow and some poor sod in an old Lada / Zhiguli who was just minding his own business gets wiped off the road.

My expertise is with still photos and photoshop. I have done a lot of work using this software. I was able to pause the video as the car moved around you but what I see is a over contrast image. Meaning the difference between light and dark is to great. Even trying to use the Sharpening tool would not yield any details.The reason being is there is no detail in the plate for the computer to grab onto. Now this could be because I am not seeing a first generation image. Meaning the original video. A print from the frame with the best chance of seeing anything would be a second generation image. I don't know if the police have (I am sure they do) software that can work on pulling any details from the video. I don't know of anything else to tell you. Here in the states the police would do nothing if you reported this. Reckless driving is the norm here and unless a police officer actually witnesses it or someone was harmed or property damaged, they won't do anything. They MIGHT do something if you had video and the license plate could be seen, but I doubt it. They rarely pursue victimless misdemeanors after the fact.

The police use a 4k resolution license plate reader camera. This is a second camera. The main camera is not very good at reading license plate numbers.

There's CCTV and cameras everywhere . Between describing where you were along with the timestamps and latitude/longitude from your camera, maybe law enforcement will be able to check other footage from a CCTV nearby or along the way that happened to get them out driving. Edit: people saying it's legal because of the dotted line have no idea what they're talking about.

There are bridges that you went under. The should have a number on them. If you still frame you may get the number on the bridges before the overtake and the one after. Give these to the Police and show them the footage so they can get location. There may also be traffic cameras on the bridges that may have the licence plate if the car. I think the car was a BMW. That happened to me more than I can count in my 30 years of driving when you drive long distances for work every day. Unfortunately I've called myself a few times and nothing they can do, but a lot of roads do have cameras on them now adays and calling the police department and give information they might be able to look at their camera's. It kind of looks like a 2018-22 Honda accord but lights seem a bit longer C shaped over middle and exhaust might be stock.

Had a similar incident happen to me tuesday night. I was taking my girlfriend home from work. We were on a back road with 2 lanes. And this white car was on my tail. And i was going 5 miles over the speed limit. And they flew on past me doing at least 90 going up a hill. Could have been catastrophic for that driver. If someone was coming the other way. I don't know about German traffic laws, but here in the states. That would be considered reckless driving, a misdemeanor. Here, you would have had to make a citizens arrest, at the time, which was not possible. The police could then cite the driver or arrest him. If a police officer would have witnessed the violation, he could have cited or arrested the individual.

Wow! I can understand why you're upset. It's obvious that this person's judgement was impaired and should not have been driving. Passing you at a high rate of speed at a time when there was an oncoming vehicle right next to you at a place where there were guard rails on the side with concrete pillars for the bridge. If you or the driver of the oncoming car were not paying attention that could have been a terrible accident with multiple fatalities. Reckless driving behind behind the wheel of a heavy vehicle going at a high rate of speed should be a crime. It seems like the German Police should have resources like AI can piece together data and determine the make and year of the vehicle, it looked black in color, and then see if they can do anything with getting a plate number such as with a generalized time, direction of travel, and a location they could possibly trace him back to another location where a traffic cam got a better look at his license plate. They do have AI software online like Google when you show-it a picture it can tell you what it is. It was a close call and a brush with death so much could have happened.

I would recommend you provide a video copy to the local police and the regional police. There may have been a crime committed, and that car was escaping the crime scene. The police have access to the best equipment to review the video.

You can get the license plate of the driver. Also if there is a road camera 🎥 at any available marker it will have his make and model as well as his license plate. Just give the authorities the route and time and they can find that individual with easement. I know it’s frustrating when that happens but since you were in a, seems like a major road, they should have some type of camera recording somewhere. That’s is the only thing you can do. Upon further review....you dragged me into your mystery, I believe I have identified the car similar as to a comment below. It appears to be a Honda Civic 2022 (maybe 23) not touring or sport model. I base this on several factors below. at 12:12 on the left of the screen there are 7 LED lights from the offending cars head lights reflecting in you windshield. These angled dashes are a distinct feature. Most pics don't show it but I found a clear headlight view and counted 7 dashed angled leds very clearly. In fact I think its a double reflection there are in fact only 3 plus a shorty per light. Later in 12:12 you will see the orange light on the side view mirror as it passes - IDENTICLE The tail lights being illuminated are hard to see in an internet pic because the perpetrator car lights were all red - that was simply a reflection from the drivers head lights 10 cm away on an array of different reflector colors - they are a match It appears not to be a sport or higher model because it appears to have only one exhaust pipe. The distinctive license plate well match a Hyundai and Honda but only the Honda matches everything else. Its not perfect a perfect theory considering the ridiculous number of trim packages bit thats what I'd be looking for. Best of luck - like I said below its best just left alone. But I would have a pic of the tail lights - if they drove that road once they may live close by and do it every day....I'm glad you didn't call me direct, I'm no good for you.

Hello, I don't normally comment on anyone's videos. However, you seem very adamant about finding this car/driver. Obviously you will not be able to disclose this exact geographical location to your viewers.. but.. as you mentioned there are probably no cameras in this exact area however there may be cameras where you either got on this highway or cameras miles down the road around an exit. Your videos are time stamped. Upon releasing this footage to the authorities they will check all cameras along the routes that lead to this geographical location. It will not be hard to identify that car. The left brake light is also out.

I suspect the Polizei may recognize the brake light design to reduce the number of cars to search for. Law Enforcement too often has crazy drivers like this to deal with. Your report may be combined with other people’s reports to find the person. Sorry that I’ve no technical knowledge.
