Go Kenya! As a Brazilian I also know how education can be difficult and how it is so important! My poor grandfather started working when he was just 6 and everyone would laugh when he said he was going to be a doctor. He did not just became a doctor but also created the first Medical School in his city. He also had a library at home, reading a book a day. Please do more projects like this in the future!

Nooooo I've seen this mistake made so many times! I was a peace corps volunteer in Ghana and so much waste happens in shipping. Don't SEND books BUY books locally! Buying books from local community has many benefits that are lost when you send books. 1) you can get WAY MORE books for USD than you could ever get in the west $100 here would get you like 1 science textbook but buying from local printers could get you like 100 science books! Plus you would also be supporting a local business (probably many local businesses) 2) shipping to Africa is long, slow, and VERY expensive in import taxes 3) people never mention this but there is a psychological effect on local people when you give them foreign items (maybe less so in Kenya bu in Ghana) people had this belief that locally made products were inferior regardless of it being justified or not. The "white savior" idea is a thing for a reason and sending stuff to Africa hinders them from developing (industry, self reliance, and pride)!

it's a good point but the main reason of carrying this donation drive is to find books which people related while growing up and adds a little essence of personal contribution to the library in Kenya. The decision to buy books locally (which I'm assuming will be done by one or a few individuals) will not encompass the wide range and variety of books that thousands of people can put together.

Hi Zack! Shipping the book i'd like to send (Through Amazon from Canada) seems to not work. I was attempting to send a Piet Prins book titled; Secret of the Swamp. Or frankly any of the Scout series books as well. As a young kid the Piet Prins books always gave me the excitement to explore and to be creative and inventive while also teaching me respect and grace. The curiosity that the novels give are good for young readers and adults the like so I think it would be a great addition for the Library! Hopefully someone can find a way to get this book in the library or if you could use this money to help the library in any other way possible. Thank you for the work you are doing!

Thanks guys! This is a great opportunity to teach my son how to give back. We too have been very fortunate, lucky, and blessed to be where we are. Today after his school I'm going to sit him down, we're gonna watch this together, and I'll ask him what books he likes to read so we can send those out. He's roughly the age of the kids in the video.

@@sug_madic25 Theres a little "Donate" -button belove the video, but you can't use it everywhere - some countries require a formal approval from the police or other instances to raise money. So that's probably it if you can't use it. EDIT: Seems they have changed it to a "Thank you" -button where you can purchase a "super thanks", and it seems to be working at least in Finland where the previously mentioned "Donate" -button was disabled because of some laws about moneyraising.

Hey man Zackthis is really amazing but, sadly enough I just gave away all my books to the local boys shelter in the month of May. Nevertheless this is a small contribution from me towards the library hope it helps. I've just completed college and know how expensive books and fees are, i was privileged enough to get good quality education and i hope everyone can one day get the same if not better.
